BMW and M Power Owners

Im rebushing all of the arms at the rear. Trailing (already had poly) lower camber arm and upper spring arm. Im putting ball joints in both locations on the hub and putting an adjustable camber arm on.
The arm has the three bolts to the body and then the lower camber arm and upper spring arm both join to the hub. I have the CV joint out the hub too and the brake lines off but its on the handbrake cable stopping me… friggin thing wont come out of its hole under the transmission tunnel, so im a bit bummered.
Im based in south east essex, where abouts are you? This thing will be a little stunner when its done :D

Id like to get the whole subframe down, refurb it and the diff.

The reality of it is that house stuff has made this little project drag on for months without anything happening. If I get the subframe down, the car will NEVER get back on the road. When the garage is built I will go nuts on the car but until then I just want it on the road in as good condition as possible with the least amount of time available to do it.

In which case forget about the refurb, get it on the road, buy another (evo) subframe to rebuild in your garage when it's done, swap over, live happily ever after.

Being completely honest I've driven shoes car before and after poly bushing the rear and and I can't tell any difference.

Thing of beauty? lol mine looks like a piece of ****, but it certainly generates some attention once it's done a few laps on track!

Clarkey is right about the evo subframe, get that and buy my M3 evo diff and propshaft ( ;) ) and you'll be laughing.

Should really get mine back on the road, all I need to do it bolt the exhaust back on, put the indicators back on and it's good to go. So little interest in it at the moment though as this weather is utter gash.

thats not the worst idea yknow.

evo diff is actually a lower fd isnt it? my 3.0 would love that.

build it all up in the garage, drive in, remove refit, win.

if you were to put yours up for sale, how much would it likely to be? :D

Indeed it is, although I'm not sure of the exact figure.

Well trading isn't allowed on motors so I definitely won't send you a price through trust if I do decide to sell.

Originally I have intended to put the M3 Evo rear end on mine, and put the 328 LSD on the daily driver (as it's the electronic nanny edition :( ) but having done one subframe removal and refitting, and we're about to do clarkey's, I'm not sure I can be arsed. So I may sell the M3 evo diff/propshaft and put the proceeds towards an LSD for the nanny car.

Will get back to you on that one.

Diff ratios.

318 3.45 (small case)
323/328 2.93 (LSD in 328 sport pre-ASC)
325 3.15 (open)
M3 3.0 3.15
M3 3.2 3.23 (large case)

Going from medium to large case means changing the subframe, best to just buy the whole lot.

shoes it would be criminal not to fit an m3 diff in the track car. Diff swap is like 2 hours work if that. M3 has a 6 bolt input flange instead of 4 bolt on the non-M, so will need to swap that over but it's a simple 5 minute job.

Fair point dude - will the M3 diff fit on the track car then? I thought that I needed the M3 evo subframe and half shafts too?

Currently have a 2011 135i M Coupe and a 2012 320D M Sport Plus (admittedly nothing sporty about a Diesel 7.6sec 0-60!) Coupe, but it's consistent 56MPG is very satisfying with the decent levels of torque it supplies.

135i has been BMWP'd to the exhaust and engine remap with PPK variant 2 and the 320D is bog standard (SatNav, Leather, Xenons, Cruise).

135i (pre-BMWP Exhaust - had no nice weather for pics yet!)

Quick question for you, my brother currently has a MKV Golf and is looking at E46 convertibilities. He wants to know how much nosier are they over the coupes with regards to wind and road noise?

They are a lot more noiser due to the face the roof is fabric rather than metal. Hard tops can help as well. Brother in Law has a 318 convertible (I know I know....) but it's OK for wind noise. You're brother won't know whether or not he can live with it though if he hasn't expeprienced it. Get him in an extended test drive.

Thanks, test drive is obviously the answer here as I imagine a Golf to be pretty refined with regards to cabin noise.

Oh and it's your not you're :P

mer mer mer, I'm at work + tired so sod off ;) :p

I drove his recently (3 weeks back) and was reasonably impressed by the noise or lack of, by it's obviously not as silent as the hardtop and non-convertibles. :)

Ok so here is my baby. Purchased a few months back. Had a fiesta for my first, a focus for my second. Now nearing my 3rd year of driving. Unfortunately not earning tons of cash so cannot sort the alloys out yet, but that is the only thing I think it really needs doing. 318ci es, 2litre one.
