BMW and M Power Owners

Am I reading this right?

My current car (a 2011 E91 LCI with pro nav) and no extra fancy bluetooth options, can do multiple phones and bluetooth streaming.

If I order a new car, also with pro media pack that now comes with NBT iDrive, will I no longer be able to do bluetooth streaming?

You can do bluetooth streaming in a new car. In the 1 series they enabled bluetooth streaming in June 2014. You only need EBT if you want to pair more than 2 phones, or have more than 1 phone active.

Bleh, well the coolant warning came back over the weekend and the car was booked in, just had a call saying they need to remove the gearbox to get to the leak to say for sure how long it's likely to take to fix :s Very curious how it's only flared up since the service and makes me wonder if it was caused by something that was done then.

Is it common for E9X brake pad sensors to stop counting down near the end of pad life?

My rears have been showing 1,400 miles now for, well, considerably more than 1,400 miles.

I use the brakes quite conservatively, engine braking mostly. I have checked the pads visually and they still seem to have 5-7mm left on them and I’m not noticing any degradation in braking itself.

Oil is due in 2,000 miles so will probably get them done together if required.

I was only asking in jest sorry.

Has anyone had a medium term drive/bought in a 235? This is a possible next car once the prices have drifted a bit further on the second hand market and wondered how it was in real life doing more day to day things rather than the racy reviews you get online in general.

Sorry for the slow reply, been away with work and couldn't be arse to type out a reply on my iPad or did my laptop out my bag in the evening ;)

I had an M235i from June until November last year, that, due to a significant number and range of issues was swapped for a 640d.

In terms of the M235i, when it worked, was a nice little car to own and drive. It was quick when you wanted it to be, handled well, sounded good and was well behaved on the road. I'd not want one without most of the options mine had, which to be fair was almost all of them, such as the electric heated seats, Pro Nav, Enhanced Bluetooth, reversing camera, adaptive suspension and the 8 speed auto.

Given what it was I only ever fed it Super unleaded either Tesco 99 or V-Power and could get 40mpg on a long run and was mid 20's on shorter day to day journeys. Size wise it was big enough for 4, as long as the people in the front aren't too tall and the likewise the people in the back. Boot was big enough, but its not massive. Overall, excluding my misfortune of having a dud, I liked it, not sure I'd ever buy red again but that a personal thing.

For a day to day car it was nice to live with and did the jack of all trades role pretty well.

From bad to worse... Got the car back, and as soon as I got on the Motorway heading home, drivetrain warning popped up asking me to drive moderately. Back in to BMW tomorrow and me feeling like I'm not having much luck at the moment :(

Hi all

Just got myself last month a '60 plate E92 335i (N55). Loving it so far. Came with 6 months RAC breakdown and warranty from the 'prestige' car dealer i bought it from. Had to use that once so far, low coolant warning on a drive to shopping one day. Pulled over and upon lifting the bonnet some steam coming from the expansion tank, turned out that expansion tanks are two part, with rubber/silicone sealing the bottom half to the top. Nevertheless was fixed by a local garage, but my experience with RAC left a little to be desired.

Have been looking into grabbing BMW insured warranty with emergency assistance for £50 per month and £100 excess. Been going backwards and forwards over it but i have decided to get it for peace of mind, and although the N55 has eradicated most of the usual culprit problems from the N54 as always it could still throw up a very expensive problem at any given time. What i like about the BMW warranty, seemingly little to no quibbling, courtesy car, no grief as such throw the car to them and they will deal with in the correct manner. Compared to RAC where i have to book with a garage myself, arrange getting there and back, limit of £60p/h labour anything over that i pay, getting authorisation codes, and general messing about and uncertainty if theyre going to try and worm out of it. So ive pretty much sold it to myself.

Although, a question. The car is on 55k, i understand if i go monthly i can avoid the price increase at 60k, but after 60k is the level of cover reduced, in a similar fashion as it is at 100k? Dont want to shell out and only have 5k of 'decent' fully comprehensive cover.

In addition i seem to have the common problem of excessive and uneven wear on all inner edges of tyres. Otherwise they have plenty of life left so need to change in the next couple of months. No problem with that, and i'll get the hunter tracking, but im really worried that unless it gets tracked by someone who knows about this problem the new tyres will just wear again very quickly on the inner edges. I read somewhere if setup to BMW factory defaults (which i assume most places would do) i'll be in the same boat and they will wear again quickly. Apparently the settings need to be messed about with by someone who knows about this, to in effect 'track' out the problem. Anybody aware of this?

Sorry for the long post!

To my knowledge the level of cover does not reduce just because you pass 60k during the policy.

AFAIK it doesn't, you get the lower price and mondial/bmw will cover you upto (dont quote me) circa 100k, for example I renewed mine for £450 quid (it was sitting at 78k at the time) and because I was extending the warranty they honoured the price. I did a comparison and taking it out afresh would have increased the premium to £875. Well worth investing in and mine has already paid for itself well past the period I'll own the car for :)

However, the guy in the dealer said at 60k+ more items could get potentially rejected as wear and tear.

Thanks J1nxy, it's good to have some feedback even if it's about your lemon. Although when kid eventually arrives it would fit in a 6 series too... :)

Xplo - If it helps, my Z4 with default BMW tracking has slight extra wear on the inside but it's nothing hugely major - I figured in my head at least that the designers probably know a lot more than me about this sort of thing so if they wanted a bit of extra pressure on the inner it's probably here for a reason (although i assume it could be for safety over tyres just as much etc...)

So I do believe I will soon be the owner of a 2009 BMW 550i! Its a fully specced edition, in the Carbon Black with 85000 kms on the clock. Importer is currently refreshing the leather on the drivers seat and sorting out a chip in the near side front door, but apart from that its mint. Drives like a demon and handles surprisingly well, thought it was going to be a bit more barge like than the current twin turbo Scooby!

Once the importer has fixed the issues, final inspection followed by balance the remaining price and then its mine!

Lovely 4.8l V8 goodness! Will post pictures when its been bought... Might have to get it detailed to remove any swirl marks etc.

Soo, After nearly a week of owning the e92 M3 all I can say is wow what a car, I can see it getting me in lots of trouble if I don't be careful lol.

The previous owner had put cheap £60 tyres on the back so the backend was all over the place when it entered anything remotely wet, After changing all 4 tyres to Mich PSS it totally transformed the car in terms of grip.

I've noticed since changing the tyres that it's pulling to the left, Not a lot but enough. I called bmw and they want £300 for 4 wheel alignment whereas the local bmw/audi/vw specialist wants £80.. I know where I'm going.
