thoughts / comments etc welcome. Tempted to try and space the rears out a little? Ride is definitely better on 'normal' tyres rather than run flats, however the rear seems a little more twitchy though I've barely used it since getting them fitted. I'll have to check that out :p

My Eagle F1's took about 400-500 miles before they stopped feeling twitchy. Now they are great.

Yeah they need some level of breaking in from what I've read too - but cheers for pushing me onto these rather than the Falkens dude ;)

Managed to get some pictures of the track car. Its all road legal just need some minor things adjusting when MOT time comes again.

Started off as a 318is, converted to 328i Engine and Box, Completely stripped out interior with just the dash and door cards remaining from original. M3 EVO Rear Diff, Coilovers and a full OMP rollcage. I fitted bucket seats on my own custom runners so I can adjust them back and forth (new MOT laws!). One seat is a Sparco Sprint and drivers seat is a Corbeau Revolution.

Car still needs loads of work, going to order a full polybush kit when funds allow and roll-cage needs to come back out for painting. Already done one track day so far and performed flawlessly! Insurance is a bit high considering age and NCB but mods are declared so understandable!

Yes I know I should have just started off with a 328!

Looks great dude! Something to be said for doing the work and not just going out and getting the other model though to be fair!

To be fair I already had the car and it was such a good base to start from. Was a bit of a shame stripping it as it had some wierd extras for a 318is, including full winter pack, full computer, full electric climate control etc. But needs must and all that

You ever do regular road driving in it? If so, what is the mpg like?
I want to fit a shorter final drive to my 328 but wonder just how detrimental it will be to the fuel economy.

Went out for a blast last night, done 136 miles of very hard driving through country roads. Used half a tank.. Not too bad considering this was through Breacon Beacons, Black Mountains etc...

My handbrake is quite loose, needs to be pulled right to the top in order to stop the car rolling backwards on a hill.

Is this something BMW can fix without charge? I have taken out the comprehensive warranty but it doesn't kick in until next month, best to wait until then?

Didn't think it was worth starting a new thread, so, thoughts on this:

><

Surprisingly, it's till on the original turbo and clutch!

Forgot to ask why it says it has 276bhp, assuming it has a remap.

Edit - just looked at the price of turbos and clutches, we're talking ~£1.5k?

Do they even remap to those stats? 550 Nm?

Having had a look around it appears that I'm better off going for a 330i and spending the savings on petrol.

Interesting in what sense?

Are the later 330s the ones to go for? I've seen a 2001 330i which looks alright as well.

In that its mileage means it's very cheap (Although it may not look it, it is - a 330Cd is usually a ridiculously overpriced car) and it'll probably have similar reliability and drive more or less the same as one with 100k on it (Note it's already had some suspension refresh work done, which most have not, its have refurbished injectors, which most have not, etc etc).

BMW will fit a clutch for £550 under BMW Value Service. An indy would charge less. This leaves the turbocharger as the only big thing left that could go (provided the injector work was recent and well done) and tbh if that does go and costs a grand its not the end of the world is it?

I'd still have a petrol one because I prefer the engine but there is a chance - only a chance of course - that car could make a nice buy. But a few things concern me:

a) Lots of owners. Your best shot at an uber-miler in great condition is a one owner car.
b) Those power figures. If its standard, great. If it's been remapped by someone who now thinks it has 276bhp then no thanks.

My main problem is I'm not sure how much mileage I will be doing.

Whilst it's not the end of the world - adding £1.5k onto that price will take the car into the £6k region (would obviously try and haggle on price).

Considering it will be possible to pick up a 330i for under £4k, I'm left asking myself whether it's best to keep the other £2k for petrol and other running costs - whilst enjoying better driving dynamics.
