I like that (despite its rather small boot)... until I went to the BMW website and configured one... £41,735.00.
I'm out.
Yeah it's not cheap by any stretch and the one they gave me has just the HK audio upgrade + the swankier 19" alloys + wood/leather trim and that comes to ~£30k I was told!
IMO it doesn't offer a huge convenience given the tiny mileage range at present. It does however have huge cool factor and you just sit there admiring all the money that must have been spent in R&D to make it feel so solid and funky.
Sure, you can get the 30 minute charger station installed (£500, Gov pays for the rest which is something like £1500) but even still, less than 80 miles on a charge won't get you far and if you're stuck in traffic doing start stop motions, that range will fall further as I have found.
With that said, I also want to drive the other similar EVs (Zoe, Leaf, others??) now because all reviews said the i3 drove the best and felt most like a planted and sporty for a town EV of this type. Indeed it's swift and sporty and very well insulted considering it's built almost entirely out of plastic and injected with carbon fibre!
The thing I found especially neat today was that you can get into it and set off onto the road within 15 seconds of unlocking the door from the house front door. I needed some milk and bread for the morning, normally I'd walk to the shops for such a thing but it was so easy and quick to take the i3 it just made me think "This is actually pretty damn cool".
I hate the new key fob though, it's literally a fat square that is uncomfortable in your front jeans pocket. Certainly will be the biggest item on any standard set of keys.
