BMW and M Power Owners

Given the runaround by BMW today over my wheels. What a pain in the backside.
I'll have to try again tomorrow and hopefully get through to someone who isn't useless.

Not sure there is anyone at BMW who isn't useless, and I've spoken to a lot of them over the past few months sadly...

The ride on my E92 on 18's and M Sport suspension was beyond terrible, it ruined the car on anything other than totally smooth roads.

I have the E93 with 18s and M Sport sus and it's actually not an unpleasant ride at all, can feel the road a little bit more than I'd like but by no means jarring or uncomfortable. It's almost as if the car was made to run well in that config.

Lol touche! How come you decided to get a diesel?

He did say why just a few posts back...

I can't justify it either. Sadly it seems everyone who bought a high spec 5 Series new could justify it so if you want a reasonably quick 5 Series with the right spec you've got to buy a diesel.

Annoying.

Sadly this forum is full of diesel haters. Fox being one of them, but had to compromise on the engine to get into the car he otherwise wanted.

I probably wouldn't have went for a 320d if my mileage was only 4k per year either mind you. But that does sound like too good a bargain to give up on. You can keep that for 4 years, it'll be "low" miles at that point, and get back most of what you paid. Quids in.

Because there are almost no petrol F10 5 Series. I looked for months and found none. I will consider a change if a nice one ever shows up. Mine is a 530d.

Our mileage will be increasing, we used to drive as little as possible because of the cost of constantly filling the 1.8T up. Since getting the car in March we've already covered 2k, and it's getting a run to Le Mans and back next week.

To be fair I was a diesel hater until I eventually bought one.

Had a few other BMW's before this one.

Had this bad boy when I turned 19, gorgeous E30 316i Lux.

And the other year my friend and I bought this 520i to do a banger rally around Europe. £333 we got it for and did the entire 3,500 miles without any issues, raised £5k thanks to that car :)

It's really not, but what you tend not to get are diesel fanboys who are blind to the downsides. I don't hate diesel at all. I own one and I'm very happy with it, it's a fantastic car and it's a fantastic engine. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend diesel > petrol because it isn't.

If you had my bank balance you'd worry about fuel costs lol. R32 would make a lovely second car, but I kind of have my eye on a mk2 MR2 T-bar, absolute bit of fun.

Sold the 335i today at asking price. It was a good car and the guy that bought it could not believe it ran so nicely, he said it felt a lot better than the other cars he test drove and thought it was in amazing condition.

Ironically I felt that the car was very tired because it had 70k miles on it and you could see signs of ware on the seat bolsters and shiny steering wheel.

Next up sell my dads 535GT and find a nice 640 GC for him

my 330d is very close to 100k, virtually no wear on bolsters and the wheel isn't that bad either, I've seen cars half my mileage looking twice as bad :)

Best way to source a 650i with a Manual Box? I've been trawling the web for months and not a single one, few 645 which I'm not interested in (being extremely picky.....I want a push button ignition :D....oh and the extra power)

Is there a specific place I'll have more luck on? Such as a forum and post a wanted thread or something?

Cheers.

BMWLand forums are offline currently, the owner died :(

Edit*

From PH:

I can confirm that Matt Hinton the administrator of BMWLand passed away on 30th April after a long traumatic illness. He leaves a wife (one of my closest friends) and 18 year old son. He is the Matt Hinton on muchloved.com and if anyone wants to donate to Lymphoma Association, it would be fitting and appreciated.

The passwords of the site were on his laptop and the family are trying to break into the laptop (they have sources to help with this) and also decide what to do with the site. As you can appreciate the site's future is on the list of many administrative items Mrs Hinton needs to address following his death and I ask for some space whilst she decides. I will send her the link to this thread, I am sure she will appreciate the thoughts for her and her family.

Been that way for a week or more. He was the only person with the master passwords so it's not looking likely to be back on line for some time.
