BMW and M Power Owners

It's a long story but I won't directly be responsible for the whole cost ;)

I'm not that mad to throw 35k away

And oh how I want it I've been doing that commute in my 207 gti for 2 years which isn't fun

35k? Any reason you didn't opt for one of the discounted 330d for that money from a broker? You can get the 530d for that too, now, as well. I would have been expecting a 320d to come in at much less after discounts?

Is that one in the photo the actual car, if not what colour have you gone for?

Pretty much as in the pic, white with red leather, auto with paddles 19" rims, black glass, satnav

I didn't get told about a 330d on discount I'll give them a call on Monday to find out ;p thanks for info

So is it more expensive to buy straight from BMW? As that's what's happening atm

EDIT: I see those sites are for full purchase of these vehicles mine will be leased with option to buy

I saw a 116d with an x drive badge on it today- such a strange choice of car to put (or pretend to put) 4wd on...

Also, I was going to get my rusting and bubbling arches sprayed but apparently the wheel arches are so corroded it isn't a simple respray job so it will be £800.

I am thinking of getting the "aftermarket" panels from Euro Car Parts and getting them sprayed. I know it won't look great but it looks horrendous at the mo, and will be significantly cheaper than the full works.

You can take PCP finance on those prices too, and they are all bmw main dealer supplied cars.

What is the exact spec of the car you have ordered, have you picked the Pro Nav or sticking with the standard Nav system? As I have just spec'd it with the standard system and it comes to 34k with no discount. I would expect that spec for around 27-28k through a broker as a 20% discount is common and on some models even more. For 35k you should be able to get a 335d

You should also consider adding Xenon headlights they make the front end of the car look much better. I personally would add the M Sport plus package which also includes the 19" wheels and tinted windows you have already spec'd

it was based on a monthly cost and desposit, absolute price didnt even enter the conversation. I said I want xyz for this cost and they said ok we can do that, now im thinking I could get more.

I have asked Broadspeed to get back to me sharpish with more options including the M Sport plus package nothing wrong with trying to get a few more toys for the same cash :)

all this new car malarky is new to me lol

Absolute price always has to matter (unless its a personal lease) as this drives everything else you're talking about. If you paid less for the car, at the same interest rate but still paid the same monthly payment either the term would be shorter or you'd have more equity left at the end and therefore more money to trade (or less to pay to own)

you can get a 430D gran coupe m sport 8 spd sport auto, which has pro nav, apps, heated leather memory seats, xenons, dab etc all standard for £35.5k from broadspeed atm, far more car than a 320d!

The fit isn't 100% on those, but is good enough if you're not running a show car. I purchased one and had it test fitted to see how well it fit but it was ever so slightly off.

Any decent bodyshop will be able to make them look 100% - whether the cost for doing so outweighs just buying genuine wings in the first place will depend on how bad they are to start with

So gf decided to buy the 1 Series. I see what you mean about the 1.6 being under powered. Feels more like a 1.3! It doesn't come with parking sensors either so ive got to get some for her birthday.

Are these easy to retro fit? ive never done it before. Was thinking i could do it myself or get them fitted if its a hassle job.

Found a place up the road who will fit sensors for £180 inc colour matching, booked it in for that.

Before buying it i was doing the research and a lot of forums seem to mention the timing chain on these causes problems. a lot of people seem to have had some big bills from them going bang, I rang a local BMW specialist up to see if i could get more info and they said that the 05 petrol engine is quite fine reliability wise overall but they get a lot of diesels in with problems. They mentioned that the 07-09 years have a few issues but the 05s are alright. Replacing the tensioner was recommended tho so i will be getting this done for her.

A few other sites mention BMW issued a recall on all 1 series to have the timing chains replaced in Germany, i cant find anything about this in the UK tho?

Is there anyone here with a 2005 BMW 1 SERIES 1.6 116i ES? how reliable are they? there are plenty on autotrader at 150k miles so fingers crossed my gf's will be alright!

Yea, thats it, N47 engine apparently is the main culprit.

Ive been researching and reading so much about different model 1 Series and different engine numbers that im going round in circles:D

This ones got a N45 in it and google seems to be pretty quite about problems on these.
