BMW and M Power Owners

Time for the E46 M3 to go. Can't believe how little these things sell for now, so much car for the money as long as you buy well. Was gutted when I sold my last one, will be the same this time round.

Very nice. How much do these go for? ;)

I know of a very well looked after one, 2003 coupe, which went for £8,500 recently. High'ish mileage but car was in pristine condition for age and had loads spent on it in recent years. Good cars can be had anywhere in the £8k to £13k+ range depending on age and mileage.

For mine, I'll be aiming for a couple of grand ('ish) more than that.

Lol Hummu, your car is the spitting image of mine down to the tyres. Our spec is identical.

Great minds and all that ;) Waited ages for the right spec to come up when I bought it.

The Vreds have been awesome tyres. Wouldn't hesitate to get them again.

Had a look online and cant seem to find these in my size but could just be mobile internet fail

Bear in mind that you can more than likely upsize from the BMW standard sizes which often opens up much more affordable options.

If you're after a good balance of budget/performance I'd recommend you also consider Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's.

Pro tip for E39 owners with automatic gearbox. If your car jolts into first gear when coming to a stop, disconnect the battery overnight. I did this 10 weeks ago (was disconnected for 24 hours while I was fitting a new oil filter housing gasket), and despite what many people say online, it has completely fixed it. No jolts since.

No saying it'll fix yours, but it worked (to my surprise) for me.

It seems to be another victim of Continentals appalling tyre size selection criteria these days. They don't bother doing anything better than a CS3 (Which is still much better than a 452).

Is there an updated buying guide for one for modern times now they are around the £8k region and a running cost idea?

For instance, I want to look at something like this

What are the E36 M3's like? I've been thinking of the idea of buying a Convertible. Are they very expensive to run? What are they like on fuel?

The 6 Gran Coupe is absolutely epic inside and out. Checked a new one out today and it's just amazing. Strange that the F10 rear vents have climate controls on the rear panel though and the 6 Gran only has the knobs to turn the vents on, off hot and cold. Thought that was a bit bizarre.

Anyway, I'm keeping my eyes on the new 6 over the next 24 months!

I'm getting around 24mpg general town driving and the odd run to work, but did see 28mpg on the mway, they are old so need to have been loved to be in any kind of acceptable condition. Looking through the service history on mine prices don't seem to bad but the inspection II is a bit eye watering circa £800.

Doesn't seem to bad for a car with that performance. Don't think I'll be able to afford a good example any time soon! £800 for inspection II. Wow.
