BMW and M Power Owners

A friend is selling his 62 reg f30 320d and is struggling to decide on a price. Not many of these around for private sale and very few with the spec of his. 44k miles and he's the second keeper (first was the BMW dealer in Plymouth)

Copy from the ad below

Estoril Blue with Full Black Dakota Leather, Sports Auto Transmission with Paddles, BMW warranty until January 2016, full BMW main dealer service history, huge list of BMW upgrades - Immaculate 19" BMW M Star Alloys, BMW Professional Media Pack, Widescreen Satellite Navigation with BMW Online Services & Bluetooth, Park Distance Control Front & Rear Sensors, Reverse Parking Camera, Automatic Parallel Parking, Heated Seats and Mirrors, Harman Kardon Logic 7 Surround Sound, Run Flat Tyres with Tyre Puncture Warning System (TPWS), Real Time Traffic Information, MP3/DVD Player, USB Interface, BMW Remote, Rain & Light Sensors, Voice Control, Multi-function M Sport Steering Wheel, Air Conditioning, Dual Zone Climate Control, Cruise Control, Alarm System (Thatcham 1), Electric Windows Front and Rear, Auto Dimming Mirror, Servotronic Steering. Incredibly high spec well looked after car, house move forces sale.

I reckon the spec is outweighed by the mileage and number of keepers in the private sale market. But he's sure he can ask a higher price because of the spec and condition... I thought 17-18 is realistic, he's thinking more like 20

Any thoughts or tips for selling one like this?

I was at an auction the other day where cars were making more than they were on private sale (I thought it was very strange to be fair).

Anyway, there was a 63 plate 330d MSport with Xdrive with almost the same miles as your mates, and similar sort of spec sheet, and it went through for around £21k. I suspect your price is more realistic than his to be honest. It's only got 5 months warranty left on it after all, so it's not like he can be asking dealership prices.

This place is returning to many E46 M3 ownerships like it once was. Alright angry bee brigade M3 m8s

Edit*
My next car won't be a BMW I don't think. I was so impressed with the new Mustang GT that I just want one of those next. Rear seats are just as usable and comfy as my convertible (coupe rear seats aren't as comfortable in the E46).

That V8 hooked me in :o

I'm so glad to have been able to own one of the best M cars ever made though :p

I am a bit worried about the size and issues tossing one down a B road on a Sunday morning, but i'm wondering what else is next now I have have a 330hp sports car. Opposite direction to a Lotus or something?

I'm having problems with Bluetooth, it used to work! It's a F20. It connects to my phone, I get the notification on my phone to allow access etc once it's done those two checks then it just hangs on "checking passkey" for some time then I have to force close it. Any ideas?

It's frustrating as hell, means you find one that looks OK and then low and behold, it's got SMG...

Seems like the nice M3s are snapped up quickly, saw one a while ago for ~£9k on AT and it went within a few days, damn my hesitation :(. Had thought the owners club would provide a good opportunity but it hasn't.

Just realised the "new" 318 has the little 3 banger under the bonnet from the Mini

It all sounds like a throughly horrible prospect, though I guess I understand why they have done it

Kind of want to drive one just to see how bad it is, wonder if it will steal sales(/PCP/lease) from the bottom end diseasels

I sat in an M4 recently, it felt so similar to a 320d M-Sport :-\ (although I guess that's the point of the M-Sport, or whatever the trim level is?) also on idle and slow pull off it sounded quite odd, I'm sure it sounds great when going and you hardly buy an M4 for it's interior, but still, not what I'd be happy with for £50k+ the exterior is obviously pretty fap-worthy, mind.

If it didn't have the full leather option (which is a must as it really raises the quality of the interior, full leather dashboard etc) then I can see why, I've specced mine with it for this very reason.

But you can still spec that on a 320d too.

Nope I'm pretty sure you can't, you can spec a leather instrument panel but it's not the same as the full leather option on the M cars. Full leather isn't an option for the non-m versions (well possibly through bmw individual but you'd be paying a massive premium)

Officially full leather adds:
- Upper door panels in Walknappa Leather (Black).
- Instrument panel/dashboard in Walknappa Leather (Black).
- Lower dashboard (centre console/glovebox etc) in Merino and Walknappa Leather (Upholstery colour/Black).
- Sun visors textured/anthracite.
- Rear parcel shelf in anthracite.

Mmm, been out for a drive today, the car has been parked up for over a week feeling sorry for itself. That feel from the transmission when shifting into 2nd, 3rd, 4th at 7500rpm

Another drive during golden hour, need to delete some more fuel so I can fill up the tank. Considering the added weight implications of brimming the tank, though ;)

To be fair what do you think SMG stands for? ( I wouldn't call it a manual either )

I think it's because of the paddles, people just tick the manual box because you can "manually change gears innit" :p

I see what you did there

:D

Definitely try one out if you can, it changed my mind about them, at least the new Mustang GT anyway. The steering is lighter than I'd have liked, but the feedback is decent and the noise from the rear, and the feel of the gearbox slotting in each gear was really really sweet.

I think I've found my "home" car format. 4 seater sports cars that can genuinely seat 4 adults in comfort tick my boxes. I'll keep the E46 for as long as possible and see what's what in years to come. I do want to keep it forever, but we say such things about everything and it rarely stays like that :p
