BMW and M Power Owners

I've owned a 330ci for the best part of 3 years, expect to fix things on a regular basis, and bits aren't exactly cheap considering the value of the car.

That said, when they are working, they're a great car to drive. My usage profile is probably quite close to yours 20 miles a day around town and I average 19-24mpg, a motorway run at 70 yields 34-39mpg (indicated).

For 2x 10 mile trip each way, I definitely wouldn't get a diesel.

I really like these straight six engines too... so I know why you would want one and when they've been looked after, they're great vehicles.

Just be careful when checking them over and I'm sure you'll find a good one :)

I have a strong preference to RWD and decent driving dynamics, so a 330i would win hands down over a VRS.

When I bought my RX8, it was between a 330i or the RX8. The all-round package is arguably similar and with an RX8 you get a lower mileage and age for a small up-front cost but will spend more on fuel.

As you're considering 330i/VRS... I'm guessing you could benefit from the rear seats / boot, otherwise there are a couple of fun 2 seaters in this price range to look at.

Great. Got my dashcam 3 days ago and just awaiting the memory card to be delivered tomorrow before I can fit it.... when this happens...

*sigh* Some moron decided just before the brow of a steep hill on a narrow country road, would be a great place to overtake a cyclist. So now I've got to start with the fun of insurance and increased premiums. And I'm going on holiday on Saturday. Luckily the only damage is to the wing and a very small scuff to the front bumper - the wing has only been on the car for around 4 months after being replaced under warranty by BMW and them doing a stirling job on it.

The guy works for a well known corporate company and it is a company fleet vehicle I think. Is it best to go straight to them or go to Helphire and let them deal with it?

Gutted for you :( Your premium shouldn't really increase as it was not your fault.

Yeah i'm pretty gutted :(

I know it's not my fault and he admitted he overtook the cyclist (which I caught him saying on video) and glossed over the fact it was over the brow of a steep hill which he couldn't actually see if it was clear, but kept saying how fast I was going, as everyone does at every accident ever. I just hope he mans up and admits fault to make things a lot easier for everyone. There is the cyclist witness also who was some 45 year old woman and he was chatting to her before I got to them, who will no doubt claim the young driver in the BMW was going too fast despite absolutely not being the case :( Can't have been going that fast as I managed to slow from about 50 mph to 15mph in the space of 30 metres or so, only hitting him at about 10mph and coming to a stop about 2 metres beyond his car.

Even more peed off that I have a dashcam here, ready to be fitted, and if this had happened tomorrow it would have been caught in full HD quality and irrefutable.

25 years driving and never scrapped down a kerb scratching the underside of spoiler or hit a wall, the moment I'm in a brand new BMW I do both within a week of each other after only 2 months of ownership typical grrrrrrr

Anyone here had issues with creaking door seals on BMW's? Seems a fairly common issue, with lots of potential remedies...

Happens on my car too and is pretty common in general. As said, Gummi Pflege works a treat but so does silicone spray lubricant if you've got some lying around. Neither are permanent in my experience so expect to re-apply every once in a while.

Anyone got any tips on how to properly use Gummi Pflege please? My windows squeel when they're opened or closed and no amount of Gummi has helped.

And before anyone says to read the instructions, they're all in flippin German :p
