BMW and M Power Owners

You can, but you can equally just move the mirror yourself when you actually need it. That's what I do. But rest of the time they stay where they are.

In 2008 I sold my Focus ST3 and spent 33k on a brand new Evo X FQ300 SST

Though it was one of the best cars I've ever had, I always regretted wasting so much money on it. I sold it 4 years later for 16-17k.

I was single at the time and didn't see how I would ever be able to afford a house even though I had built up some decent savings, so I bought the car.

2 Years after that, I met my girlfriend and I'm still stuck renting.

I wish I'd just kept the Focus ST3 and saved the money...It taught me a lesson never to buy a new car though.

Fair enough, if you can afford it go for it.

(I still wouldn't spend 33k on a 1 series :D )

It's not totally obscene. I have been speccing up a Golf R, and even going through the brokers, in the spec I'd want is around £35k (and that's not even including a NAV option). I'd imagine the 1 series and the Golf are fighting in the same market place, so that seems to be about right for a reasonably specc'd example of a current German "hot hatch".

But u don't need to do it manually, just change the mirror adjustment selector to driver's side and the passenger mirror will drop when u put it in reverse, or select passenger's side and it won't. Simples.

Anyone got a reversing camera?

On my F11 5 Series - When I first tested the car the left mirror automatically moved to show the road/kerb when you put the auto box in reverse.

Since I have updated the iDrive it doesn't seem to do this any more, and I couldn't find an obvious setting in the iDrive to change it - Unless it's one of the physical buttons in the cockpit?

It's in Vehicle Settings. Once enabled, the selector needs to be in the right place on the physical switch as well.

Note it only works if the car is equipped with Folding/Auto Dimming exterior mirrors.

I'm in two minds whether to go through or not. Everything is in place, £2500 deposit then £437 for 47 months. They want a returnable £500 deposit then to confirm the spec of the car for a mid December delivery date.

For me it's to travel to work when not on the bike (6 miles each way), waft to Manchester and occasionally South Wales in comfort and then to be a bit of a hooligan at weekends and the occasional track day.

The S2000 currently can't do any of that apart from the weekend/track day, but it isn't great at commuting. It seems criminal to keep it and do such little mileage, not to mention the money tied up in it. My 2005 Focus can do the work bit and the longer trips, but, well, it's a Focus.

The M135i seems to tick all boxes for me.
:

The S2000 cant do a 6mile commute?

You will find a 135i boring compared to an S2000. Plus the engines dont seem to like track usage

Why not just get a second hand s35i Z4?

There is no way in the world you are going to keep a car 4 years

What's the deal? £23k over 4 years seems like a lot to me. How likely are you to keep it for 4 years?
Don't do it. A used Z4 35i is a much better prospect. The M135i is comparatively boring IMO.

Do you really need £8k of options? It would be £300 a month for the basic car, a few judicious options like pro nav and adaptive suspension/LEDs seems fair but you are spending an additional 30% on bits and pieces which won't add much to the driving experience IMO.

This.

Having owned both (M135i and E89 Z4 35i) the Z4 is a MUCH more interesting car.
