BMW and M Power Owners

Well, a little higher than £437. :)

To put things into perspective, I regularly spend £2-300 a weekend on going out, the £437 on the car wouldn't really be felt that much.

The S2000 cant do a 6mile commute?

You will find a 135i boring compared to an S2000. Plus the engines dont seem to like track usage

I said it isn't great. Sure, it works, but it's the whole lack of any practicality. Taking things to the skip, picking up large items, long distance etc. Before the Focus purchase, I was relying on friends to help me out.

Why not just get a second hand s35i Z4?

There is no way in the world you are going to keep a car 4 years

Because I want something practical. Plus the Z4 doesn't really do anything for me, I'd be comparing it to the S2000.

What's the deal? £23k over 4 years seems like a lot to me. How likely are you to keep it for 4 years?
Don't do it. A used Z4 35i is a much better prospect. The M135i is comparatively boring IMO.

I could increase the deposit quite easily.

Do you really need £8k of options? It would be £300 a month for the basic car, a few judicious options like pro nav and adaptive suspension/LEDs seems fair but you are spending an additional 30% on bits and pieces which won't add much to the driving experience IMO.

No, I don't need that many options but I would like them. I highly doubt I could get a car with the options you list for £300 a month unless the deposit is approaching 4 figures.

Oh, another point Simon. Had the A5 not been such a boring car, I'd have probably kept it and sold the S2000. I even considered it when I had the A5.

437 quid a month for a 1 Series!?

lol mine is only slightly less than that on a used TT. Though I imagine the balloon payment at the end is much larger on a new 1 series.

What do you get up to on a weekend to spend £300 (every weekend?). :o

Also options are always going to increase the monthly cost on a finance package. Planning to keep the car the end?

EDIT: Actually if you are going finance route, then is there anything in the paperwork that says you can't use it for track use?

Go out with friends. When I factor in taxi/food costs etc, it soon adds up.

The plan would be to keep the car a minimum of two years, then either trade in for a replacement or keep for a further two years. I want to be in a position where I stop throwing money away at cars (by ironically throwing money away on a new car). I've spent close to £15k on the S2000 on paint/labour/servicing/parts etc. It's getting silly and a bit of an addiction. If I kept it, I'd no doubt be ordering some seats for it or supercharging it or something else. Getting the M135i may sound a silly plan to some, but it ticks the boxes for what I want, and with it being brand new and under warranty I wouldn't be tempted to throw money at it. I want to put that spare money that would go on the S2000 toward my mortgage instead.

Nothing at all from what I've seen that doesn't allow me to use it on track.

The M135i has a lot of body roll. Make sure that it's something you can live with before you buy one, because you'll invalidate your warranty by trying to fix it.

The M235i has stiffer springs.

I have considered it, however it won't be practical enough. I'm planning to drive one again before I commit.

so the mrs and I have finally bought our first BMW

Originally had an order placed for a Range Rover but after waiting 7 months for the new model, our patience ran out (and I didn't want the damn thing anyway)

so...

2015 BMW 116d Sport 5dr
Black
18" Double Spoke Alloys
Drivers Comfort Package
Privacy Glass
Ex-Demo car with 6,000 miles
5 Year Free Servicing

List Price was £24,790

Managed to get it for a nice round £15,000

Hopefully pick it up this weekend all being well

You must get bored of your cars you change them so often. Why not just get a second hand m3 or something?

I don't change them that often? I had my DC5 for 3 years before I wrote it off. The A5 was an impulse purchase as my mrs just left me and took my first Focus, I traded in for the Accord, I sold that as I wasn't doing 30k a year anymore which left me with just the S2000. I've had it since the summer of last year and I would love to keep it, but it's just not practical enough. I thought getting a second car would help things, but driving the Focus daily is just depressing.
