'Spec me a car'
'This is a good car'
'Ok great I called them and bought it'

No messing about :D

It was 1 of 3 I had nailed on already really, so just reaffirmed my thinking, but hey, that's what spec me thread should be about. Give a spec, find a spec, buy that spec. :)

Got anymore pics, Housey?

When someone filmed me trying not to scrub speed at Curborough:

The engine sounds quite gruff when pushing on and it has a lovely effortless delivery that means it can carry big speed with an element of stealth attached. The 535D even more so and though it never sounds sweet it really isn't bad. Stationary it can be a bit dag dag, more so when cold.

Having driven the same engine, I can confirm it sounds fine as far as diesels go. I liked the off the mark pace as well. I don't like the steering feedback though. Sport mode is too heavy, any other mode is too light and woolly.

Sport mode does nothing to the steering on mine, it does little to the suspension set up either to be honest, nothing that I would miss if it were not there. Steering is a bit lifeless for sure, but I bought it to eat miles and waft around at good pace and for that it's great.

No denying the waftability for sure, slices through all 8 gears like a hot knife through butter. The same cannot be said for the Mercedes 7 speed box though :p

Had this for four days... definitely preferred it to the 740. I can tell the difference between the x30d and x35d engines... you guys were mentioning something about a slight hesitation with the x30d and now I know what you mean.

Buying my own though? No... I'd get a 6, 4 or 2 series, it's un-necessarily big for me - but it was nice for driving family around in.

The cabin feels more cocooning, despite being bigger... it feels more claustrophobic to me and I prefer the slightly more open feel of the 4-series cabin. The quality of the finish is not a vast difference from the 3/4 IMO. Perhaps slightly lower without the extended leather option, like this one...

Had mine serviced today and the front pads replaced. Noticed also that Knights Stafford didn't stamp the book at the previous services (Sytner Sutton did it today) so a trip over there now needed to get that stamp added to make a nice tidy full set of BMW stamps. No other issues needed work, clean bill of health and all set with new rear tyres (fronts have 6mm still!) for Christmas trip to Devon.

Now the question....do I bin the £86 a month BMW warranty as I am doing circa 5K miles a year in it these days?

The 6 is just as big, actually it might even be a tad bigger.
