BMW and M Power Owners

Yup just got a letter. I'm fully comp and zero excess. Going from £98 to £105 I think.

Exactly the same as my quoted renewal price on mine. What a strange and kinda trivial increase  They've always reserved the right to increase the price of the warranty in the T&C's but it's the not recalculating for mileage increases that was the benefit of monthly.

There have been a few changes in the BMW warranty lately - prices are up about 15% across the board but they've also made the Comprehensive product better by clarifying exactly what 'wear and tear' means and also specifically covering wear and tear on Comp policies under 100k.

Did you find some wheels yet? :p

I'm sorry I've got no pictures, but a mate picked up an M135i yesterday. Absolutely fantastic, but it's not getting floored/allowed above 4500rpm until after 1250miles (2000km in proper units) as per BMW recommendation. Got a few nice options on, like the adaptive suspension and LED headlights with high-beam assist etc etc.

Now to find a new job so I can afford one myself...

Just got a warranty quote of £105 with zero excess, £69 with a £250 excess or £85 with a £100 excess for my 5 series. Is it worth going zero excess? Seems like a hefty premium for it.

edit: that includes roadside assistance.

Alloy centre caps were annoying me..

Are they genuine? I'm guessing not at the price. Linky?

The metal ones are unfairly expensive for no good reason. The ebay ones are of good quality and have plenty of clips (10 at least) so won't fall out or move an inch. Plus they will age better than the metal ones that fatigue over time and look weathered. The plastic ones are not all plastic though, the chrome bits are metal/aluminium as is the emblem itself.

^ Looks good, if I had an Apple phone, this would be perfect, shame they didn't do a dual Android Auto / Apple Car Play unit..

It's a powerful engine in a small and fairly light car. It rapidly gets to license losing speeds, but it'll happily mosey along as normal speeds too.

The biggest difference you'll notice in a car of this level of performance compared to what you've driven in the past is that when "pressing on" you'll easily be doing 100+ mph whereas in lower powered cars you might be going 80 mph.

On a wet road if you don't respect the torque it'll try to spin, but in comfort mode and sport mode the traction control is fairly aggressive. Turn it into sport+ mode and the car will get pretty well sideways before the traction control reigns things in. Turn the traction control completely off (which puts the mode back to comfort by the way) and the back end will overtake you if provoked. It'll still get the back out on a dry surface too, but frankly unless you're behaving like a complete tool behind the wheel you shouldn't lose it.

As for the lease deal we'd need to know what the terms are before we could tell you if it's good or not.

Wouldn't worry about the power. 300 bhp is surprisingly easy to get used to.

With respect to the M135i, it's a nice little package. I had decent test drives of an M135i and an M4 back to back a few months back, and in all honesty, for on the road, I preferred the M135i. Yes I'm sure the M4 would be a weapon on the track and all that, but I would never take one there so I can wrap a £55k+ motor around an armco or something. So it would be used on the road.

And when it came to the M135i, I found it heaps more fun. You could really just get on it all the time, without having to worry too much about spinning the back wheels and throwing you through a hedge (granted it was a damp day). But it jest felt more enjoyable, as you could get far closer to the limits in it than the M4, where the TC system was fighting my right foot far more than I would have liked.

I'm sure I'll get slated for that opinion though, since there is a lot of M love on here.

Thanks guys, these are both very helpfull explanations on what to expect. I've pretty much decided a 135im is what I want to get now.
The best 2 year deal I've seen works out at..

Initial Rental: £1,702.86 + VAT
23 monthly rentals of: £189.21 + VAT
Processing Fee: £199.99 + VAT.

Seems an OK deal that for a new 135i.

I bet!

Auto or manual?

The 8-speed auto. The car is beautiful in comfort mode (adaptive suspension was ticked), and feels really "on it" in Sport Plus mode too. Can't wait 'til the car's done 2000km so the taps can be opened properly. Hopefully I'll get another drive in it then :p
