BMW and M Power Owners

yeo looked fine in real life, can see what you mean from the pic but if it had been like that in reality I would have notice

Please can someone with more logic/sense than me explain if what I'm looking at is just plain daft?

Sell current car: £1500-2000
Cash: £2000-3000
3.3% loan over X months: £14000-15000

Purchase M135i; 1 owner, BMWFSH, 12-13 plate with no more than 40k miles.

Sell car in 12-18 months, clear the loan before I buy a house.

On Saturday I walked into BMW Williams Manchester and drove an automatic M135i, it absolutely blew my mind. The acceleration and exhaust note (especially on cold start up) put a massive smile on my face - which is exactly what matters right? I also think it looks gorgeous and it's big enough for my needs :D

So, I want to buy one, unless someone can slap me with some logic as to why I shouldn't.

I'm after the following:

Estoril Blue, Alpine White or Mineral Grey
Automatic
3 doors (I'll look at 5 doors if the price + spec is right)
<40k Miles, 1 owner and BMWFSH
Service Pack
Drive Comfort Pack
Adaptive Suspension
Cruise Control
Enhanced Bluetooth
Business Navigation
Xenons

Luxury: Heated Seats and Harman Kardon

Budget is £19k but I can stretch to £20k if absolutely necessary. Hopefully I can haggle a few quid off the price. I'll also be purchasing 1 year BMW Comprehensive Warranty if I don't find a car direct from BMW AUC.

Couple of questions:

1. Do you need to service the car at BMW for the car still to be covered under BMW Warranty? Can I get it serviced at an independent? I currently use Coastal Racing and the service is fantastic.
2. Any known faults apart from the exhaust rattle or engine whine to look out for?

Why would you specifically want business nav? Business nav is a compromise you may make but it's never a want. I'd have professional navigation before most of the other stuff in your list.

It's a tuning package applied via a phone, considered to be one of the best available after cobb dropped the ball and failed to offer any updates to their hand held devices, the MHD software is updated very frequently and custom maps are everywhere :D

oh and you get a lovely chavvy exhaust burble too :p I tried the burble but set it to back to normal for me the car has a lovely exhaust note as standard, but if you google it there are utterly stupid variants (5secs agressive for example)

Stop/Start....anyone tested it, see if it makes any difference? Suspect majority of my journeys are too short for it to make any. Often find myself turning it off.

Interesting :)

One thing is that sometimes as you are coming to a stop but you pull off again almost straight away, it starts to kick in, judders a little bit, then carries on. Guess its just adapting your driving style so you can anticipate it.

I'm trying to get used to it, as I've only recently changed car - come to the conclusion that general driving start/stop and traffic lights leave on, but if I'm approaching a t-junction, or somewhere that I might need to nip out soon after slowing down, then I'll just tap the "cancel start/stop" button by the ignition. When I'm out of the junction and driving I'll then re-enable it. Doesn't get in the way of driving and just helps prevent any potential judder/splutter/delay.

Hmm wait a sec, don't you have an E46?

What's wrong with it this time Stephen? :p

Drivers side window was making a noise when opening / closing. Turns outs it's the regulator so they are replacing it today hopefully. Already had the passenger side replaced. First thing outside of normal servicing costs I will have to pay for.

What you doing there?

I'd offer you mine but I'm looking for more money. It meets your requirements, plus has pro nav and a couple of other options you haven't spec'd (but no enhanced BT - can't really see a need for it with pro nav). It's an LCI and only just over a year old, so you'd have nearly 2 years BMW warranty on it.

I never turn it off. And usually drive in eco-pro mode. My 530d has averaged 39.8 mpg over 36,000 miles. With tank to tank average speeds of between 35-40 mph (usually, with the occasional 45-50 mph tank, although the average mpg on these tanks is rarely much different).

For comparison, it's the best performing 530d (2013) 530d on Fuelly (except one that only has 3 tanks on it).
