BMW and M Power Owners

The brakes in my dad's coupe work well enough but need a good old prod and don't particularly let you know what's going on, but they donr feel "bad" per se. If you're used to over assisted vag brakes or the likes I can see how they might seem odd at first

Try bleeding the system first and see how you go

It's the mark of a true retard. Because anyone who doesn't know what an M4 is wouldn't be impressed, and anyone who does know what it is would know it wasn't a real one.

Absolutely this, I always tell use this method of explaining why it is a pointless exercise.

Besides, it's a decent motor. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of - why not just enjoy it for what it is..? (Save for it being a diesel, of course).

Barring parts shortages build will happen as forecast. If its quick its normally because the dealer had a slot and they have varied the order to your spec before it moved from 1200. Delivery is often earlier than the dealer first tells you as they add a bit in so as not to disappoint.

I hope so, last time I spoke with them delivery moved from W39 to W40.

I can only hope they are being cautious.

The next modification is a Pure Turbo Stage 2 kit (pic below) which will allow me to run around 550 bhp. Really looking forward to this one! The videos of other guys running the same kit are just incredible.

Are these prices normal:

BMW X3 Oil service - £277+gst
BMW 330I Convertible Inspection 2 with Brake fluid service - £570+gst

Do I need Inspection 2 as part of the brake fluid service?

Looks like the UK price for the Oil Service is £190 + VAT but would be included in my Service Pack. But I can't find a price for the Brake Fluid Service, does anyone know?

I paid 80 quid for my last brake fluid change at a dealer.

No dealers should be quoting plus vat prices in the UK, the UK prices are inclusive of VAT.

You definitely set on that model car?

Salami, that's a true mini-beast! How does it fare with rear tyres?

Fix this is a question for you. You've had your 530i for ages, in regards to oil and weight you've used would you say it's fine to use 0w40 Mobil 1 on a 90k m54b30? As from what I've read up this is what most people use.

At the moment I'm using 5w40 shell helix ultra, and thought I'd try a thinner oil now.

Ah ok, I'll look into it further. Is there actually any benefits using a thinner oil?

Well it's actually the factory spec oil - the M54 was designed to run on 0w30 and Castrol SLX Longtec (Which was later known as Edge for consumers) was the factory fill in this viscosity.

However, most people go the other way and use a slightly thicker oil when the cars get older to reduce oil consumption. I never bothered and stuck with the 0w30 throughout.

I've encountered some very unnecessary misbadging recently; a 430d convertible badged as a 435d and then a 730d badged as a 740d. I really cannot understand why.

Are they not referring to the new way BMW is badging their cars? Like M135i becomes M140i, 330d becomes 340d.

The 430d and 435d are different though.

Impressive! What kind of horsepower is it now?

Does it cost a lot of money to take them to this kind of power and are they reliable, how is lag on them on the stage 2 as assuming its a bigger turbo and therefor takes longer to spool up?

M5 Competition Edition

Limited to just 200 models worldwide, the exclusive BMW M5 Competition Edition has been released.

The Competition Edition has an even more powerful version of the twin-turbo V8 found in the standard BMW M5.

...peak power output standing at 600hp (560hp in the standard BMW M5) and torque output reaching 700Nm (680Nm in the standard BMW M5).

...adoption of the M Competition Package as standard, consisting of stiffer responses from the springs and electronically controlled dampers. The Active M electronically controlled multi-plate limited slip differential, which intervenes rapidly to control wheelspin and keep the car stable, is recalibrated for an even sportier response.

...extensive range of equipment including: Adaptive LED headlights, Reversing Assist camera, powered boot lid operation, Comfort Access, sun protection glass, front and rear heated seats, electrically operated rear sunblind, and the Bang & Olufsen Advanced audio system.

The BMW M5 "Competition Edition" is now on sale priced at £100,995 OTR.

I would love to drive this beast!

In the email they sent out they state "these vehicles are set to become instant classics" - I wonder how low they would decrease before they start to level out and if/how long it would take for these surpass their initial sale price.
