BMW and M Power Owners

E46 owners does this sound like my front wheel bearings need replacing? Car has over 120k on it so seems likely.

Only noticed over the last 6 months that at over 70mph I get some vibration from the steering wheel, I put this down to wheel balancing and thought it would be cured when I changed my tyres. Well I have since put 4 brand new tyres and different wheels on and it is still doing it. Also this weekend I had a brief stint at over 100mph and the vibration through the steering wheel was alarmingly bad. However at low speeds there is no noise whatsoever with the windows down, I have jacked up the car and there doesn't seem to be any play when trying to rock the wheel in and out and it generally drives fine the rest of the time apart from at 70mph and progressively gets worse the faster you go.

tracking maybe?

Had mine done at the garage near the old queens park, 'Just Tyres' or something. Was only £40. Rule of the thumb though, always get this done when having new tyres.

Check the wheel alignment, any decent tyre specialist will be able to do a free 4 wheel alignment check, you only pay for the amount of adjustment needed. This is something you should do once of twice a year anyway as all manner of bumps and potholes can throw alignment off into the red.

Edit*

The M2 continues to grow on me, especially Evolve's "GTS" modification. They've tuned it to 401HP/450lb ft.

Just over 2000 miles into my F31 330D ownership now.

Initial thoughts:

- Genuinely impressed by the performance. Its turn of pace is fantastic, and the gearbox absolutely makes the car. I know the 30d engine is a good one, but the 8 speed box makes it feel like the car is always ready to go.

- The fuel economy is brilliant. I do an 85 ish miles a day round trip from our home in the Cotswolds out to Oxfordshire where I work. There is a reasonable dual carridgeway section, but the majority of the roads are single carriageway NSL roads with plenty of elevation changes. From a cold start at 5:45AM I got 57MPG door to door. I'm absolutely certain I could get higher if I was more focused on this.

- The handling seems good, but I am certain the alignment is out - or the rear simply isn't confidence inspiring. Over undulations at speed it unsettles and feels very light of grip. My S2000 felt the same prior to getting alignment done, so I'll get that booked in and see how it changes.

- The car has the visibility pack (Adaptive Xenons) and High Beam Assist. These two options working together gives me without doubt the best visibility I've ever had in a car. It took a bit of getting used to - it felt like high beam was simply just on all the time, but you can actually see it cutting gaps in the beam pattern to avoid dazzling the other cars. Really recommended.

- If I wanted to pick fault, I wish the car had a slightly better sound system. The stereo is good enough at lower volumes, and seems clear enough, but it lacks punch if you turn it up and just seems a bit flat.

So, so far, so good :)

It really does. It's a fantastic demonstration in how to ruin the looks of a nice car, and leave your wallet thousands of pounds lighter in one fell swoop.

Damn, opinions divided, then.

Personally I'd keep the standard M2 wheels as they're brilliant, but leave the rest as is. Just makes it look meaner at the back. As standard the 2 series looks great from the front, but a little too soft from the back.

I've got Carly. Its limited in use for my E60 now and you don't have the ability to do raw coding like you can using Audi equivalents, so you are limited only to the codes that it contains. Worth it? I'm not really sure to be honest, useful for diagnosing issues before deciding to take to a specialist perhaps... Better of finding someone local that can do it for you imho.

You'll be paying someone the same cost as the app to do it for you, may as well buy the app and see what stuff you can customise. There's quite a lot depending on your car's spec and what modules reply back to it.

All of the digital speedo, lights, locking and other stuff are in there.

good stuff!

which one is the new/current one then?

or

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-C...UTF8&qid=1481538362&sr=8-1&keywords=CARLY+bmw

? the white one looks smaller/newer but the the black is said to be the current version.. ?!

i don't know anything about Carly but just to expand on the answer BlizzardX gave, iOS doesn't support generic Bluetooth Serial devices so as far as OBD-II adaptors go you tend to see a cheaper Bluetooth device for Android / PC and then a more expensive Wifi version for iOS users, that likely explains the difference.

Is the lip boot spoiler actually part of the boot design on the M2? Having that alongside that extra spoiler wing looks very "stick-on", although I obviously appreciate that's exactly what it is.
