Boeing 777 shot down

Well I like how certain countries already have proportioned the blame even before the crashsite has even been studied by international or European teams..
because it's an undisturbed crash site that was sealed off and can be properly investigated ?
a tornado might as well have passed through the crashsite

But the moment the plane was downed ,the blame was already made, even before anyone made it to the crash site. So its all a moot point.

The whole crashsite could have been protected by aliens and it still would not change the result, whether it was the proper one or not.

The first casuality of war is always the truth.

Its Cold War MK2. Maybe when the Chinese annoy us,they can become our NEXT improved enemy.

Expect more and more defence spending. More debt at the top, more xenophobia, fear and nationalism on all sides. More surveillance, etc.

Plus don't expect any of our real problems will be solved. But at least some people will profit out of it all??

If you thought "Cold War Mk1" ever ended then you're delusional :)

Yeah,we live in a depressing world.

In the 60s there was such great hope we would do better as a world(things like Star Trek and the Hippy movement).

It seems humanity cannot learn from its own mistakes, and we are seeing the same things play out again and again.

We still cannot get past our primitive tribal Ape sides.

70's/80's, USSR era ones, they sold some to Georgia a while back (that's how they brought down the Tu22M mentioned above).

According to the US the missile used was An SA-11 which wiki says was debuted in 1980-1984 (depending on type). That could easily mean ex Soviet army guys could have trained on it. If what you say is true about Russia getting rid of all their 80s kit then it can't have come from them.

It seems a reasonable possibility that these were either taken from (or shot by) the Ukrainians, or were taken from a storage/warehouse depot in Russia, which could easily have happened without Russian government approval, given the corruption.

Basically anything is possible with that age launcher.

"Chinese state news agency Xinhua has published a commentary warning against "hasty conclusions" on who is to blame for the crash. It criticises Western countries for making a "one-sided accusation" against east Ukrainian rebels and Russia"

All for freedom of the press and all that, but some of the scenes from outside Schipol from yesterday, where journalists are shouting questions and shoving microphones into the faces of people who've just learned a loved one's among those who've just died horribly are pretty disgusting.

I would agree with the Chinese there are far too many consequences for people to be slinging around accusations without good cause eg Clinton. It's all well and good with this righteous indignation but from the other side it could easily be taken as war-mongering. This situation is not as simple as who fired the missile it has to be placed into the context of the ongoing crisis the treatment of the local area as a conflict zone the lack of proper risk management by the air industry etc. There also needs to be a consistent approach and resolution for all people who do such actions not sweeping it under the carpet when it's one of your allies who makes the mistake.

And the press are like that they are just the lowest of the low - pure vultures some of them and that is from seeing them first hand myself on several occasions.

The scary thing is that the missile could have some from anyone, this book is well worth a read:

Just heard local radio talking to friends of the two Newcastle fans that were on the flight. Both sounded like top blokes. One of them had never missed a game home or away since the 1970s.

so true until religion is banned the human race will never move forward, we are all the same tumbling through space clinging to a rock no one owns the land we just live on it a short while and to believe in a higher power well thats just old school control and outdated in the civilised world

Hillary Clinton talking about Ukraine's "porous border"... while there is a huge scandal with illegal immigrants pouring across the US border right now.

Obama just talking about Russia supplying weapons... while USA has been supplying weapons to Islamic terrorists right now in multiple countries. Not to mention the CIA helping instigating this thing to start with, and supplying the Ukrainians with weapons. There is a Vice video showing them training recruits with obviously US equpment... 5.11 tactical logos on everything, bushmaster rifles, etc. Same thing with Georgia conflict, USA outfitted them with thousands of bushmaster made M4s. The Russians actually captured a large number of them.

What a joke.

That was John Alder. A well know figure at at Newcastle games, you could easily pick him out as he often wore a suit. Exchanged a few hello's with him at away matches - as you say he was a top bloke. Liam was also a regular in the away end. Very sad times.

I think even without religion human kind will still find ways to hate and kill each other.

the Newcastle stadium is just down the road from me, went past it earlier and saw some flowers and football shirts people had placed down

Of course, but it would be a start, the news would be less frequented by suicidal fanatics.

When was the last time a week past without someone blowing themselves up? I can't remember a time lately.

No ones blowing themselves up because they lack belief, they're doing it because (amongst other things) they think they're going to paradise.
