Boeing 777 shot down

I wouldn't even call that dark humour, its tasteless, disrespectful and unnecessary - I'd think the worst he'd get is community service and he ****ing deserves it!

He does not deserve it and who are you or anyone else to decide what is and isn't funny, should all tasteless or disrespectful jokes be illegal? What exactly is a necessary joke? I don't find it particularly funny but he's not inciting hatred or violence against anyone and I wouldn't think that hurt feelings is grounds for a prosecution.

This is your opinion.

Quite frankly if it makes an example of a total **** then good. Just because the internet is free and open does not mean actions have zero consequences. Might make other people think about what they say.

Say what you want, do what you want - As long as you appreciate there might be a consequence.
Made an example of for what? Saying things people don't like? Not not everything on the internet should be consequence free but what business is it of the state to be punishing people for the ultimately harmless comments they make. The expectation of consequences from telling a bad joke should be people not laughing, if twitter don't like the joke and think it doesn't belong on their platform then again they should be able to remove it or ban him as is their right. If his employer decides it doesn't want to employ someone making that sort of comment then I would be perfectly fine with them deciding to sack him but what right does the government of a country have to punish someone for something so harmless.

I agree that this could be open to interpretation, everyone has their own views. However, 290 people died in a plane crash and he's basically stated the plane should have been full of Newcastle fans, I'm not sure that's not inciting hatred - wishing 100 football fans would die!!!

If he is prosecuted, he deserves it!

It is a truly awful thing to post but I support free speech 100%, even if it means having to ignore idiots and trolls. He's a child with faux football partisan views and a grammar problem. Let it slide.

So this video states Bbc russian deleted an online report by there corespondent from eastern Ukraine, Deleted because it did not meet editorial values? and standards?

I think that clip highlights how serious this is getting. How much longer will Russia sit back and take all this.
Would really like to see some evidence to backup claims by the US et al.

There's a distinct possibility that we mere peons will never see any evidence or raw data, and this will all be settled behind closed doors through diplomatic back-channels, due to the nature of how the intelligence was gathered, not wanting to make capabilities known etc.

I mean for instance, since the start of the unrest in Eastern Ukraine, NATO E-3A Sentry AWACS aircraft have been forward deployed to both Poland, and Romania from where they've been flying out over the Black Sea to undertake monitoring flights over the region. These aircraft don't just possess a massively powerful radar not as constrained by the curvature of the earth like a ground-based radar, but also possess highly classified and significant electronic intelligence gathering capabilities.

This is just my opinion, but that's where I suspect the claim of an SA-11 being used came from.

SAS Forces On Standby For Trip To Ukraine

International special forces are preparing to go to the Ukraine, perhaps as early as this weekend.

A detachment of Australian SAS has arrived in the UK within the past 24 hours, Sky News has learned.

If authorised, they will help secure the crash site of MH17 in eastern Ukraine along with international partners.

They are currently working with British and Dutch special forces - all three nations lost citizens in the disaster.

However, the Ministry of Defence has not confirmed whether British soldiers will be part of the deployment.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said on Thursday he would send around 50 federal police officers to help form an unarmed multi-national protection force with the aim of providing safe passage to the scene for independent investigators.

In the background, the special forces soldiers would provide armed protection but only if needed.

The area, under the control of various pro-Russian separatist groups, remains highly volatile.

The soldiers will only be authorised to fire their weapons if shot at first.

A separate detachment of Special Forces troops will remain in Eindhoven, on an hour's notice to deploy in the event of a major incident.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...king-netherlands-for-forgiveness-9628474.html

Russian newspaper asks Dutch for forgiveness over MH17.

The liberal opposition newspaper is highly regarded for its investigative journalism and critical coverage of Russian politics. Four of its journalists have been murdered since 2001 including Anna Politkovskaya, a virulent critic of the government and high-profile human rights activist who was shot dead in 2006.

I think that's the saddest thing about Russia today, they could be a truly strong nation and a positive force around the world. Instead the paranoia and obsession with re-establishing their empire within the Russian establishment means they end up taking action to undermine liberal, democratic values and end up weaker as a result.

Female 'separatist' posts Instagram selfie with mascara 'looted' from MH17 crash site

Ekaterina Parkhomenko from Torez, close to where the Boeing 777 hit the ground after being shot out of the sky, posted a picture of a blue mascara bottle. Her Instagram account then carries two 'selfies' taken with an iPhone which were said to show her after she had applied the Catrice mascara.

The caption read: 'Mascara from Amsterdam, or if to be precise from the field. Well, you understand.'
When she is asked by her own followers if she was joking - and how she got the mascara - she answered: 'An acquaintance of mine, a looter, gave it to me.'

Stay classy!

Interesting report on C4 news just now about rumours that Vladimir Putin's daughter has been hounded out of her luxury flat in the Netherlands. Where does she go? Why the Russian gated ghettos of Weybridge in Surrey of course at get this - what's rumoured to be Putin's family home, the journo tried but couldn't confirm this.

For all his tough talk on Russia, the PM looks pretty pathetic if enemy number one owns a mansion in St George's Hill and a) we don't know about it and b) we don't do anything about it.

What would you suggest we do?
Last I checked there was no requirement to be a citizen to own land or property in the UK.
So go on suggest something top lad?
Try to work some anti-conservatism into it while you are at it, but try to hide the bile bubbling under your surface.
The previous post was too obvious.
