Borderlands 3

I didn't like the amount of weapons on BL3, the amount that were on the floor in front of me, endless choice, too much choice. Half of the weapons didn't seem that interesting.

Wondering if should try the other BL's on XBGP.

Oh, how can I check if I have the Directors cut? I bought the Ultimate Edition.

I think the Directors cut doesnt have the 'Fight for sanctuary' DLC? dont quote me though, both versions are confusing as hell :D EDIT: Wait are we talking BL2 or BL3!? 'Fight for Sanctuary' is BL2 dlc, been playing both for so long im mixing them up! :D

As for the VIP Mails, open them when you get them, the weapons are always your level :)

Ah, I thought it was just me. So, even for you guys who have been playing the game a long time, it's still the same in later playthroughs? Choice of guns doesn't really matter as much as it did in Borderlands 2?

only done the 2 playthroughs so far, and the second one being a moze "use iron bear to just nuke everything in sight" build i wasnt fighting with regular guns too often, although pretty much i'd just stick with a vladof assault rifle and hold the fire button until everything was dead.

Just wanted to ask you about the VIP mails. When is the best time to open the rewards on your character? Do they open at whatever level you are at? Or have they a level limit?
I have a few VIP shift mails and toybox ones etc.

not gonna lie, i was halfway through my second playthrough before i realised you got guns with those :p

although i still haven't figured out how one actually applies weapon skins so i'm probably not the right person to ask :D

except when you played with maya with cloud kill, then the acid would just dissolve them immediately.

in bl3 isn't it the mysteryiouslyier mysterylyer miesterylier the detective dlc for the directors cut?

I don't recall ever doing that, but it sounds just as fun.

i think cloud kill was the name of the perk, it was the one that would spawn a cloud of acid on an enemy when you shot them.

it was a pita for the hyperion reserve when you had to injure bots as you couldn't not kill them.

my favourite build was maxing out the phaselock so you could lock an enemy, sucking everyone else in, then you'd shoot to get the cloud and spam the legendary lightning bolt grenades from the dlc while all the enemies were getting the elemental roulette from the phaselock (which would refresh if the first enemy died and it locked another)

was stupid effective for crowd control but by neglecting the rest of the skills you were kinda screwed if an enemy was alone.

Ah, the Homing Quasar grenades. My favourite! I think I optimised Maya in a different direction. I mainly played with Salvador.

i was meaning the chain-lightning ones, does insane damage to a dense pile of enemies.

salvador was my first ever borderlands playthrough and i'll be honest i didn't get on with him, maybe should revisit him next time i'm running through now i know how the games work.

LOL, It's Borderlands 3 I am talking about :D The Fight For Sanctuary was really, really good!!

I have found out since that the Ultimate Edition does include the Directors Cut :)

As for the VIP mails, will open them all now so!!

haha, I guess they aren't that important so

I am gonna open them all now and see what's what. Will know then for the next play through.

Does anyone have a link to the contents of notes, echo logs, eridian writings, etc, in BL3? It's easier to find numerous guides to the ingame locations of them, but I don't like platform games and I like platform games shoehorned into a looter-shooter even less. I'm a "read the stories" kind of gamer, so that's all I'm interested in in BL3.

Ok, I am level 13 and I picked up a few DLC missions by mistake and now I can't abandon them and they are stuck at the level I picked them up at.

How do I know before I click them if missions are DLC or not?

Is there anyway to abandon missions? Or are they repeatable? Like if I do them now, can I do them again later in the same playthrough?

Dont know about abandon but the dlc missions are on sanctuary and the map marker has a diamond around the exclamation mark. Regular story missions its a different icon.

Ive done this, its annoying it stays the same level you entered it. You have to go to UVHM for all enemies to scale to your level. As far as i know you cant abandon missions :/

You can just ignore them though. I've barely scratched the surface of BL3 but if it's anything like 2 then doing those missions now won't hurt you at all. Unless you only plan on one playthrough.

Ah, cheers. I just thought the special marker was because it was on Sanctuary.

I can ignore them, but, it is annoying. Surely it wouldn't have been that hard to give us the option to abandon a mission.

Only just got around to playing this and i loved borderlands 2

gameplay 9/10 okay a.i could be smarter at times but still fun always
sound 10/10 one of the best soundtracks I have heard in a long while

I loved Borderlands 2 and didn't enjoy this…

Also, soundtrack? They played Alicia Keys “Girl on Fire” at the end. It was incredibly cringy.

[..] If you liked borderlands 2 you will love this

Wrong. I liked BL2 and I didn't even like BL3 let alone love it.

Crude, violent sexism.

Exploration of the gameworld locked without any explanation. The only way to tell whether or not there's a way into an unexplored part of an area is to look it up online and hope you can find an answer. Maybe you can climb/jump/whatever into it. Maybe you have to complete an unconnected mission at some point in the future. If you do, there will be absolutely no indication of that.

Harsh 3D platform game mashed into a looter-shooter FPS. Get a jump wrong (assuming you can find the jump at all - many have no indication) and if you're lucky it's back to the start for you. If you're less lucky, it's instadeath and back to the last save point. You will have to do this almost every time you want to find any lore and sometimes during missions.

Poor quality automap that's inconsistent, gives no indication of passable routes and which is a 2D map partially cobbled together to fit a 3D game.

Poor storytelling.

Crudely unimmersive storytelling that removes you from the game entirely when anything important happens. You can't do anything and NPCs don't even reference you - you're removed from the game entirely.

Clunky UI for things like swapping equipped items.

Crudely exploitatative money-grubbing by the publisher and/or dev company.

I finished it, uninstalled it and played something else. BL2 is better in all respects other than graphics and a handful of minor convenience changes such as being able to restock all your types of ammo with one press at an ammo machine.
