Bought a phone off eBay: would you say this is in "excellent condition"?

I can't open a case now as the seller has accepted the return, meaning he'll get off with nothing :(

You can still leave negative feedback.

Feedback is independent of anything else.

Even in a sale where the seller has been a saint and been perfect, you can still leave negative feedback.

I have just bought a Lumia 640 in excellent condition and cheap, so saying never buy a phone off Ebay is a bit extreme. Upgraded to Windows 10.

Buying phones new is just hassle from the network or supplier IMO. Too much info necessary.

I have listed my old Nokia C3-00 for £3.99 if any interest :) tatty but works.

I'm having a chat with eBay now to see if I can report him for abuse.

I do feel incredibly foolish dealing with this seller. I'm always really careful but alas I have been very stupid this time.

I recommend in your feedback mentioning it was a Nexus 5. The seller has a habit of setting listings to private.

Maybe the next buyer will be extra vigilant in checking the condition.

In the event of an ebay purchase going sour like this one, and you intend to leave negative feedback does the seller still have the ability to leave the buyer negative feedback?

That is something I have always wondered, I would just be happy to get the refund tbh but if they cannot leave you negative feedback then all is well I guess. I wouldn't want to jeopardise my 100% feedback, do ebay provide the ability to retract negative feedback?

No. Sellers can't leave negative feedback. It is either positive feedback or none at all.

Then leave negative feedback.

No point wasting time over this.

That seller also has a lot of negative feedback on the sales he has done.

I wouldn't have gone near him with that feedback. Its there for a reason.

Be factual in you neg f/b, state exactly why you left it and keep it cool. Don't go off on a rant or a tangent that way its most helpful to any future potential buyers.

The problem is most people or I do anyway just have a quick glance at the feedback page which on first look shows no negative and 100% feedback score, it's not until you actually go looking through them you see he has a fair few negs.

Why not? It didn't work out, he's getting his money back.

I'm sure some of these things mentioned do happen on eBay, but I've used it for years and only had 2 issues, both of which eBay cleared up very quickly. They do fleece you with massive fees, but to their credit they've been great when needed.

who do you use to post your phones ?

i've checked and literally nobody covers mobile phone within their insurance cover. your taking a huge risk with phones on ebay.

i've had as many good dealing as i've had bad.

i sold a nexus phone to some guy who demanded i send him "air phone". i told him the phone never came with earphones from the manufacturer and he wanted a £45 refund he escalated through paypal.

full of morons. gumtree all the way that way there is no come back and cash in hand with no fees. you do need to put up with all the hassle of the low balling morons though offering you £100 for a £450 phone

You aren't taking massive risks with ebay.
You just have to be careful.
A couple of lines would have stopped any such eargate.
Only items included are in photos, or list what it comes with.

Never had an issue sending stuff by royal mail special delivery, even tell them what's in it due to battery and they still insure it.
