Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

I must add that my finger wasn't behind the shutter trigger there, my mate's was - Though the plan and execution is mine :p Can't drive and shoot at the same time of course!

I think it's high time soon to invest in a suction rig :o

He doesn't drive!

Windscreen update: Some progress.. maybe!

Lady from CS phoned just to go over everything to date, and she is dealing with the situation. She will confirm a few things and once the job is done, will call back to discuss compensation. She agrees that £25 is simply not enougb given the tediousness of everything so far.

I’ve said I will not accept a non genuine part, I said I am happy to buy the part myself and bill them but she said to await warranty to get back to her first as it should not come to that kind of point and she confirmed there's no legit excuse for cases like mine.

Let's see what happens.

Serious windscreen update chaps!

Still, no call to celebrate just yet, I want my full excess refunded too. So now to see if they keep their word on calling back once the job is done to arrange compensation.

Well, I thought their highly trained experts would have mastered fitting a windscreen by now but apparently not :D

I'll refrain from commenting until tomorrow has passed! Can't jinx anything now :p

Only the initial one that they goofed up on, which will be taken into account and mentioned when they call tomorrow after the job is done.

This Friday I have a day off anyway as I wanted a 3 day weekend to do various things.

I made progress with mine today funnily enough. Second window they ordered from BMW arrived and its booked for the 27th. 2 months after requesting this.

Lord knows what you guys do to your windscreens. 140k miles, 8 years old, original OEM screen. :p

It's just the way it works - i've had cars that never needed them and then it only takes one stray stone from a car in front to wreck one.

I was following a dump truck the other day and it flicked a stone so hard against the MX5's screen that my ears hurt from the noise. No crack or chip though............yet

2 months!

I have good news from today. The trim was fitted, it's all legit and the clips are a different design it seems, more sturdier and similar to the door panel clips, with silicon washers each side.

Anyway, I'm happy with the replacement, guy said it's the first time he's ever heard of Autoglass replacing the trim itself but fully agreed that with the hassle and time I've had to waste that it's the least they could have done.

Windscreen looks mint now

Now to wait for the compensation phone call from customer service as promised.

At last!

If I ever need a new screen I think I'm going to remove all the trim myself. At least it won't get ravaged by someone who is just in a hurry to get to his next job or whatever.

Out of interest mrk, do you have insurance cover for business, as you're obviously doing a lot of driving to weddings etc and taking the people out, so just wondering if you're just risking it or actually covered?

So far the shots I've done have not been on public roads but the venue's own road/driveways leading up to the venue, nevertheless I have full indemnity cover on my policy.

It's worth noting that the guy did say that 90% of the time even when careful, that the trim clips have broken purely because they are sat there for years and years and eventually deteriorate and all it takes is some jolting when removing the trim to break them. That and the silicon seals will perish too. So you may well need new clips/seal strips! This is what happened to mine, but the failing from Auitoglass was that their guy didn't point it out and simply bodged it.
