Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

Must do as he asked the bodyshop if it was the same one he saw mashed up when I first had it dropped off. If he is genuine and wants it in a collection then I'd imagine that probably wouldn't matter to him.

I've sent a message to confirm if he's serious now though, but probably won't know anything until the guy goes by the place next.

I'd be reluctant at 10 really but I can understand why it would be wise of course. 15 allows me to add a small but extra and get a CS, something that is more obviously appreciating.

He said he'd happily pay £15k at least and that it would go into his collection of older sports cars.

lol, no it wouldn't.

If he genuinely wanted to spend £15k on an E46 M3 Convertible this budget allows selection from some of the lowest mileage cars around, why would he spend it on a Cat D higher mileage one that looked shiny because it was quite literally in the process of being detailed?!

He's a dreamer.

Or just a bit mad in the head. I don't believe him and raised an eyebrow when I heard it, although crazy people do crazy things, so I'll entertain his offer to see if it's legit or not either way. Nothing to lose by saying yes after all.

Too good to be true springs to mind :p

The lipped diffuser is nice but now the more I look at it the more I miss how the exhaust tips would stick out of the stock non lipped diffuser, now the tips are tucked under the lip and not as prominent. The lip finishes off the valance nicely, but the exhaust tips look like they're hiding away under there!

Maybe I need some more time to see how I feel about it. I have the stock diffuser anyway so I can stick that back on if I decide I want more tips vs more lip in the future. Also, just as I predicted, car is dirty

Can't hurt to follow up on it though! Just don't get your heart set on it, enjoy what you've got and if for whatever reason it does come through then it's a bonus

I can't say for sure yet as it started raining just as I went to pick it up and took the pic above and it was raining on and off all day, plus I've been driving the car so it's dirty now. Initial impression is very good. Marks out of 10? I'd say 8/10 as there is some orange peel I can notice up close on some lower panel areas. But nothing that's worse than what I've seen on brand new dealership cars anyway. It doesn't help that it's carbon black either.

The whole car definitely has better paint than what it was before the accident though. I'll get proper photos up once the weather is nicer and I've given it a good wash, although I've been advised holding off washing it for a week or two at least.

Now there are no more stone chips, no dings, no rust (it had none anyway) and it has the same paint thickness all over.

Bodyshop said if there is anything I'm not happy about then to let them know and they will sort it. So far everything seems great.

Also, the one thing I do need to do is replace the frameless window seal that's fixed onto the rear side windows. Over the year I've noticed a bit more wind noise as the seal has weakened. Not major, but just enough for me to notice. I'm guessing I will need to have the whole glass replaced since the seal is glued onto the glass. It's not a soft seal like everywhere else and Gummy has not helped make it much better.

Old cars m8s, expense after expense...

P. much this :p

This Eventuri, wow. Some of you guys weren't kidding about the difference it makes to the sound. I agree, don't know what BMW were thinking when they choked the standard E46 M3 air intake system like that - Probably to boost CSL interest down the line?

Anyway, been driving a bit today and the car definitely accelerates more aggressively throughout the rev range and throttle and shifts are more responsive in the top end.

The sound with all 4 windows down alone is unreal, and the video below doesn't do it justice.

It wasn't really aimed at the chav market when new!

A-ha, are you the guy with the E36 M3 who doesn't know the difference between a T-Sport Corolla and a Corsa? :p ;)

You should come to the meet on the 6th, its near London... Ish...
