Brazilian Grand Prix 2012, São Paulo - Race 20/20

Under normal circumstances anything that is highlighted as under investigation after the race will not result in a penalty that changes that race result. It will be things like grid penalties for the next race.

The exceptions are incidents that happen in the last few laps of a race where the stewards don't have time to react, or incidents that were not identified during the race but were raised after it that would have received an in race penalty had they been raised during the race.

I still don't get it, for me he deserved a penalty for Senna smack,
If you didn't realise yet penalties for crashes only get given out to people not fighting for the championship

It's some weird backwords F1 logic where everyone is not treated as equals

To me it's a pass under yellows. Obviously it's a rule break, but do FIA have the balls to change the result of the championship.

I doubt it..

As much as I want to agree with you, unfortunately all the evidence is pointing towards a green flag zone. The marshal point. The DRS being enabled.

And as much as I want Alonso to be WDC 2012, looking at the evidence given, it doesnt bode well for Ferrari to make a case out of this line of argument.

What they COULD argue, is how difficult it was to see the green flag, especially in those conditions (but this wouldnt be a problem for Vettel since he could say he saw the Green flag and thats the reason why he went ahead with the overtake).

I've been convinced otherwise, and looking at Twitter last night, so have most of the motoring press.

Something else that was raised, Ferrari can't appeal, the deadline for that is 30 minutes after the results of the race are published. What can happen is that the stewards can reconvene to discuss a new issue raised with them with evidence, but its in the FIAs control weather to do this, not Ferrari's.

I'm happy that there is enough evidence that there was a green flag at that marshal post on lap 4 and the pass was legal. I just hope it gets unquestionably proven, the years of arguments would be unbearable.

They don't have to.
Article 179b
"If, in events forming part of an FIA championship, a new element is discovered, whether or not the stewards of the meeting have already given a ruling, these stewards of the meeting or, failing this, those designated by the FIA must meet"

edit=and the green flag was there on lap 3 but not on lap 4.
Anyway I don't understand why Mclaren or Ferrari did not put in a protest about rb floor in 3 races
that alone would have lost vimto the WDC.

Flag looks green to me halfway down the straight. Are the roll bar cams High Def? If so it will be a lot easier to view for the FIA.

If Vettel gets dropped down for this I don't think I'll be watching F1 again. I'd say the same if it was any driver, Ferrari are just clutching at straws.

If Ferrari feel hard done by then why shouldn't they appeal? By your saying teams should be allowed to cheat themselves to a championship. Where do you draw the line?

Ferrari are just clutching at straws.

Have Ferrari actually said anything on the matter? I thought it was just media speculation they might be thinking of appealing?

I very much doubt they would anyway, the evidence pretty much proves all the disputed overtakes were legal. The only thing of that carries any dubiousness is the move on Senna, but it seems like it's only people who wanted Alonso to win desperately that are playing that card. For everyone else is goes down as a racing incident.

Luca Colijanni said they are not making any protest, just the BBC it seems making up things.

Shock as Andrew 'Weeeeeeee I report on F1!!!!' Benson posts controversial article in bid to draw attention to the BBC. There's a reason he's not particularly respected amongst the F1 media. Only he would post internet rumour as fact, and has done many times before.

I have a healthy dislike for Benson, he posts some proper tripe.

It would be a shame for the title to be changed now, it certainly wouldn't leave a particularly nice taste in the mouth and would overshadow what was overall a very enjoyable season.

That said, I suppose for Ferrari they have to way up the potential bad press for protested agaisnt the possibility of ending up with the WDC.

Even if he passed under yellows, I would want no change or protest. Handing it to Alonso now would not feel like any sort of victory.

I think Alonso wouldn't mind if he got the WDC.

If the video proves vimto over took under yellows shouldn't rb man up?
