I've seen the video, pretty sure Max will just get a reprimand. He barely touches the car and when he does it looks like a finger or two at best.

Seems impossible for that to make it illegal at any angle. Merc obviously messed up. I'm guessing the stewards will want to check Bottas' car too.

Surely it’s less about the impact but more about MAx breached the rules? Same as Hamilton I doubt a MM of extra DRS would make a difference but he has still breached the rules.

As Irishtom said common sense would say no further action for the good of the sport and competition. I doubt that will happen, Lewis to the back and MAx a slap on the wrist would be my guess.

Yeah now we get the penalty lottery when they claim they don't look at the consequence.

Nothing is every simple in F1! Max's innocuous touch happens to be on a part that then fails and gives Merc a defence

I was going by this article https://www.planetf1.com/news/max-verstappen-spotted-touching-lewis-hamilton-mercedes/

"This could also form a part of Mercedes’ defence, as they could have reason to claim that the Red Bull driver tampered with their car – especially pertinent, considering the area he appeared to touch is the one under investigation by the FIA."

Normally get the full story in the blurb when the penalties are issued.

There is a vid of the fia checking the gap. A circular 85mm disc is pushed into the gap. Don't think it's meant to pass through the slot. It looks like it does on the merc.

Yeah I saw that. Seems pretty clear cut that it's not legal and if anything it's sewn the championship up for Max. Mercedes have been woeful on and off the track this year,

Rather naïve from Verstappen at best.

I assume Mercedes have to demonstrate that Verstappen's actions damaged the wing, rather than just claiming he tampered with it. If the testing tool only fails on that side they might have a case, though if Mercedes are cleared because of said tampering then I assume someone from the FIA will be watching like hawks to see how they "repair" it before the sprint.

This season has got a bit of a 1994 vibe (thankfully without the tragedy). Constant accusations and counter-accusations, controversial crashes and silly and naïve mistakes from both teams. Hopefully it doesn't end in the same way.

This has been happening for years, and not just between the 2 current protagonists

Only difference between this and ‘94 was that Benetton were actually cheating

Obviously, but this seems every other weekend there is a new conspiracy, accusation or controversy.

In regards to that it was never proven to be used and wasn't punished - if they had used it they could have lapped Hill at Suzuka. Ferrari were also proven to have a traction control system. All season only McLaren were penalised for car infringements (excluding the plank at Spa, for which I think Benetton were rather unlucky).

Lewis’ car referred to the stewards for a DRS infringement? What might the punishment be?

Well Stewards do like to punish Lewis... so...

What happened to Russell? How did Latifi beat him?

The World Ended... or something like that... Does not compute that King Latifi could be faster!

Agent Bottas just needs to punt Hamilton off for his transition to the dark side to be complete.

A good Wingman might.. but Valtteri won't :(

Seems to be a fan video of him touching the drs

I wonder if that illegal act would be enough for Merc to escape punishment for a DRS infringement.. 6 of one and half a dozen of the other...

It's getting like the days of "Hunt's car was 1/2 inch too wide" or whatever

This all seems to be rumbling on for an unusually long amount of time, do they have some footage of Max hitting it with a hammer or something? :p

I think it was mostly down to time of day. With quali held later than usual, and all the mechanics already having been up all night building the cars after the freight transport issues, they just froze everything overnight.

I can see it being this to be honest.
