Breaking Bad Season 5 - Part I

Mr white will turn out to be exactly like Gus but a big improvement.

Maybe. Maybe this is how Gus built his empire. I mean, how exactly do you build a meth empire? Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves here, we still have to wait a year for part 2.

I think if Jesse and Mike want to see their share of the money, they have to either, rat on Walt or set him up to be caught by Hank.

This series is surely one of the best TV Shows of all time?
The depth of detail that goes into each episode is incredible.

Thanks to Robert1986 for posting about this show. Otherwise I wouldn't have found it!

Glad you like it. We will have to wait a good 5-10 years I reckon before people start talking about BB in the same sense as The Wire and The Sopranos.

There is no way Mike is making it out alive. Walt is going to take him down, probably fairly soon. I also think Skyler is going to feel Walt's wrath in the short term. I coule see her death being the cliffhanger for the season break actually. I'm more interested as to whether Jessie survives - to me the messaging from the show is still that he is the one who is going to take Walt down.

I agree, Mike has to go (from Walt's perspective). I think the last episode really showed that although Mike has physical dominance, Walt is far too clever for Mike to stand a chance.

Skylar dying might bring too much of a focus on the family so I'm not sure that will happen.

Mikes downfall will be how much he underestimates Walt, that much seems fairly nailed on.

Fear = respect in their line of business, and Mike does not fear Walt one bit.

Same here :eek::eek::eek:

I did notice the purple thing in Marie's house in the last episode but I thought that was them showing her as being a bit of a control freak. I also noticed that Walt was wearing a nice shirt so he is obviously become more overt but I didn't really pick up on any of the other colour changes.

Edit - Clever Pun: Saul Goodman = S’ All Good Man - never thought of that! :o

Edit 2 -

That video was quality. :D

There's been a big focus on showing how Hank and Marie would raise the kids as their own. I really can't see Skylar surviving. My best guess would be that she tries to take Walt out somehow (either via confessing to the DEA or straight out trying to kill him) and Walt puts her down as a result.

I think Walt will kill Skylar with the ricin cigarette he hid at the start of the season. He kept it for a reason, I think with the show making a big deal a while back about her smoking while stressed that he will use that.

my speculation on the ending:

I agree - that seems like the most likely result for both the ricin and for Skylar.

My own feeling is that Walt will also need to take out Marie - Skylar finally confessing to Marie (at least partially) will be the trigger for Walt to "do the unthinkable", and take out his own family. It's clear that Marie is physically incapable of keeping her quiet about 'big' news. Given the "pink bear" foreboding, I'm guessing his daughter will be somehow caught in the crossfire as well. Perhaps Walter poisons their food, and they decide to give a taste to the baby?

But anyway, I guess that's for the second part of the series. I still think that this part will conclude with "Walt vs Mike", to establish Walt's superiority. The second part of the series will describe his downfall.

It will be interesting picking it all apart and comparing it to everyones theories once it's all played out in all its fantastic glory.

It certainly will :)

The last time I was this invested in the way a show will end was Battlestar Galactica.

... Fortunately we won't have to wait as long to find out what happens. It was two full years from the end of series three to the end of the fourth (and final) series!

I'd be surprised if Walt kills Skylar. Despite what he says his actions still show that he very clearly loves her; why else would he move back in with her? Yeah, he's become a powerfully arrogant control freak by this point but part of him still believes he's doing this for the people he loves. Granted, that part is now minuscule and vanishing ever quickly, but it's not likely he'll off his wife, in my view.

I don't think any part of him is now thinking of his family. It was very clear in his last speech he is doing this to build an empire because of the failure with grey matter that appears to be his sole motivation now, amass a meth empire at any cost.

If there was any small part of him thinking of his family he would realise $5 million dollars would sort everything out, but no it's simply not enough.

It's both admirable to have such drive, but I guess having cancer would do that to you but also makes you hate him because he could end up with 95% of what he wants.

I think the latest episode makes it pretty clear that Walt is now driven more by his own ego than anything else. Plus the fact that he's lost control of his family in every way means that he wants to keep a hold of the only thing in his life where he can say he's boss.

He's become so arrogant now too. It's pretty brutal to see his character change in that way.

Remember though that he talks about an empire and is still frustrated to this day he sold out on the huge ChemCorp when he could be a billionaire and says it's was kids birthright. He might want an empire for egotistical reasons, but the money the empire produces he still sees as a nest egg for his children. Any money he has will most likely be signed over to WaltJnr and Holly in his will with Skylar getting nothing.

People already do that just now.

Yeah, but I feel greatness can only be truly seen over time. Of course people are going to rate bb highly because its current and everyone is into it.

It the wide spread appeal I am talking about that we will have to wait and see for.

The Sopranos ushered in the golden age of US television, meaning that everything there after was judged on a different level. The Wire was getting wide spread acclaim before it became a widely known TV. Breaking Bad is already at that point. It's greatness is beyond doubt, particularly with the sheer amount awards it has been up for and received.

Basically what desires says.

There's never been a hint about him offing Skylar. He's got much bigger fish to fry.

I was thinking Marie is going be killed, because of her big mouth or something but I don't see her finding out or Skyler telling her anything. Now you say about the ricin and cigarettes and killing Skyler off, this seems like a sound theory and I think will happen.

This might sound daft but I don't think killing someone like Skyler or Marie is what Vince Gilligan is on about when he said something about Walt doing something that mean you can no longer have any sympathy for him. (cant quite remember the exact quote) Im sure he knows that viewers wont actually find killing off Skyler that shocking, (a lot want that lol) especially after this season so far.

How can anyone have any sympathy for Walt at this point? He has already done enough for us to feel no sympathy towards him. He is trash.
