BRINK

Thats because it was capped at 30fps, mid point through the (private) beta they included cvars to basically "over-render" to try and make it feel like more fps but it was basically just rendering the same duplicate frames for a lot of the extra frames a few weeks after release they patched in more sophisticated versions of this but it still wasn't true 100+fps. Didn't really bother me that much personally, that they messed up the netcode mid beta* and never fixed it put me off more - that and the way it got dumbed down because 60% of players were too thick to handle the multi layer gameplay. The game was at its best imo about 6 months before release, had some really great games in the 3-4 months pre the quakecon release.
My thoughts entirely. Having the animations capped at 30fps was noticeable but not game-breaking for me. Although when you jump on to cod you do immediately think "ooo this is smooth"

The reason why UE3 and other console ports are fps locked and the reason ETQW was fps locked at 30fps is actually entirely different. Its a bit complicated to explain but its a restriction of the idtech4 engine (doom 3 was originally capped at 60fps but that was felt to be too high for large multi player fps :S).

lol COD4 or MW2 yeah... black ops on the other hand really isn't smooth :P

There's a problem with a lot of people not understanding how the game works, or even what type of game it is, not like there hasn't been similar games out for 10 years but they can be excused.

There's a large group of people who seem to not like working together, they like to lone gun it and be in their own world, k:d ratio (iirc they said there's no kd ratio or list on the scores screen) is their goal, they don't see other people as human players that can be worked with, or need help. The concept of teamwork is alien to them.

For example, it's a good point someone came up with is that in many games, (RTCW/ET/Quakewars/BF series etc) that allow players to give you ammo/health, you can run behind them using the appropriate key saying "I need ammo/health!" or even use voice comms to say you need it, you could jump around like a lunatic spamming it but they won't give you ammo, you're ignored.

The only time the ammo packs/health come out is when they need it.

Agree somewhat. Most people just rush for the nearest vehicle or snipe. ET was the last game I played which required some sort of team effort to fight through the mp levels. Now everyone just runs off in every direction like a game of Laser Quest.

Quick to jump to conclusions aren't we? I borrowed a copy of a m8 that works for a popular games retailer. Used a VPN to activate it on steam. Glad I didn't blow cash on this.

No-one is going to let you "Borrow" a game which is Steamworks, unless they are ****ing retarded.

Prove you didn't pirate it, link to your Steam account with the game activated on. Also 20 minutes is no time to make a real judgement on a game, so I don't think anyone actually cares about your opinion.

To others: Use VPN and risk your Steam account getting banned. I am not saying you will get banned, but there is a risk, and why you'd want to play when there isn't going to be any other Euro players is beyond me. Just wait 2 days.

I don't have to prove anything to anyone thank you very much. And yeah 20 minutes was enough for me with the choppy lag infested gameplay, naff GFX and clunky controls.

I will let you know it was his account I play on, good m8's.

Hurr durr I pirated da game and can't disprove it, BUT YOU CANT PROVE IT!

God, just **** off already. Had enough of you from the graphics card forum without having to see your uneducated ******* here too.

launching of personal or abusive attacks on other members will not be tolerated.

Please give it a rest, the rage and whine is annoying so is the abuse, watch yourself. Now if you can't stay on topic, exit the thread.

Not sure any major game retailer in the UK actually physically has the PC version in yet... the console versions only got to stores yesterday! and I haven't seen any batches of the PC version.

EDIT: I can't safely say your telling lies as some places may have it before others - but I can physically see infront of me that the PC version isn't expected into (major) stores until tomorrow.

EDIT2: Actually looks like 1-2 places also got PC shipments on the 10th.

If you can't form an educated opinion about a game and clearly hate it, it's suggestible you leave the thread, not me, what's the point in posting in a thread about a game you played for 20mins and hate? I've been posting in here for ages, you come in with a ridiculous uninformed opinion which no-one here will even pay attention to.

You do the same in the graphics card forum and wonder why people think you're a ****ing idiot and don't care about what you think.

Would be sad if that is the case, 1 of the appeals of the old ET was all the mods and proberly why its still played today, DLC is fine but can be a bit stale and if its not good then your out a few ££.

User reviews seem to be pretty positive so far, except for those who just don't "get it".

PC and PS3 review scores by critics are higher due to fewer reviewing these, they based all reviews on the bad xbox 360 code prior to the patch it seems. Roll on Friday I say!
