BRINK

Quick to jump to conclusions aren't we? I borrowed a copy of a m8 that works for a popular games retailer. Used a VPN to activate it on steam. Glad I didn't blow cash on this.

Jumping to conclusions? No I'm afraid not. You've said very little, if anything in this thread, then suddenly came in claiming the game is so bad you've uninstalled it after 20 minutes.

And really. You 'borrowed' a game that is linked to a Steam account? Thats more like theft never mind piracy.

Go on... And how can you have when it doesnt unlockbtill friday, were you playing the offline mode?

It's out in the US, VPN and it's unlocked.

Visualy on PC it's very poor, low res textures and choppy animations, off-line it feels like you're playing with lag even with 100+ fps. GFX option consists of texture, blur, ambient occlusion, shadow options and AA on or off

There's a problem with a lot of people not understanding how the game works, or even what type of game it is, not like there hasn't been similar games out for 10 years but they can be excused.

There's a large group of people who seem to not like working together, they like to lone gun it and be in their own world, k:d ratio (iirc they said there's no kd ratio or list on the scores screen) is their goal, they don't see other people as human players that can be worked with, or need help. The concept of teamwork is alien to them.

For example, it's a good point someone came up with is that in many games, (RTCW/ET/Quakewars/BF series etc) that allow players to give you ammo/health, you can run behind them using the appropriate key saying "I need ammo/health!" or even use voice comms to say you need it, you could jump around like a lunatic spamming it but they won't give you ammo, you're ignored.

The only time the ammo packs/health come out is when they need it.

Not like past Battlefield games then, health and ammo packs all over the place :P

That is odd, as most are saying it looks very good.

that reminds me of ETQW at release
even tho it ran at 100+ fps it felt choppy like it was capped at 30fps
you needed a load of ini tweaks to sort that out

Thats because it was capped at 30fps, mid point through the (private) beta they included cvars to basically "over-render" to try and make it feel like more fps but it was basically just rendering the same duplicate frames for a lot of the extra frames a few weeks after release they patched in more sophisticated versions of this but it still wasn't true 100+fps. Didn't really bother me that much personally, that they messed up the netcode mid beta* and never fixed it put me off more - that and the way it got dumbed down because 60% of players were too thick to handle the multi layer gameplay. The game was at its best imo about 6 months before release, had some really great games in the 3-4 months pre the quakecon release.

* It was spot on perfect from a players point of view, you pointed at something you hit it, etc. but it used a bit more bandwidth than they (tho fine for anyone with a reasonable DSL connection) wanted and they went overboard including "clever" technologies like area of relevance and basically turned it into some hit or miss crap.
