BRINK

You don't recall the absolute shamble that the BC2 server browser/friends list was in on release I take it? :p

Brinks nowhere near that. Theres certainly some release bugs, but I've not seen anything game breaking or thats removed frome the enjoyment so far. :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the game.. I love the mix of TF2 and mirrors edge :p

I'm just saying a decent integrated friends list (a-la L4D) would make it much better :)

You trolling? BC2 was in a vastly superior state, you COULD connect to servers, I ran the game at 60fps all maxed, looking a whole lot better than Brink, whilst brink struggles along at 40fps tops.

You must have been very lucky, the state of BC2 at release pretty much killed it for me, the broken server browser, the constant random WSOD or lock ups with looping sound? if you had zero problems with BC2 at release you was very lucky m8.
Can't speak for Brink as not bought it yet, been keeping an eye on this thread before purchasing, though if i do buy it, it will be through Steam and that is not even an option atm.

Another game released in a very poor state, which unfortunately is becoming the norm.

I pretty much gave up on BC2 after a couple weeks because of the botched servers. Shame because what little I played was great fun, the servers just killed it for me. Brink is nowhere near as bad.

Each to their own, I found BC2 to randomly crash on me back to desktop for no reason, the browser was hideous at launch, I couldn't run 60 FPS at max, some of the hit boxes were extremely questionable and you could one shot someone with a shotty and slugs from sniper distance.

What's the best weapon to use? They all seem like peashooters so far. I seem to keep getting knocked over by one shot of something.

Depends on the body type. Most SMG's are spray-and-pray, but I'd highly recommend a drum magazine for the extra ammo as whilst your target is reloading / weapon swapping you're just pumping bullets (CARB and Galactic are good for this). Tampa is a great SMG if you're up close, but don't use it as range or you'll hit nothing. Sea Eagle is a great pistol, as is the revolver if you pre-ordered. Shotguns will one/two shot any light/medium, not sure with Kevlar upgrade though if you're close enough. Some medium/heavy guns have grenade launcher attachments which are handy in a pinch for knockdowns. Never used rifles or heavy weapons.

I'm not trolling and you're kidding right? The BC2 server browser and friends list was a right mess on release. I've had zero issue connecting to Brink servers. Regardless of anything else, my point was discussion of the server browser and friends system.

If you think there were no issues with BC2's server browser and friends system on release, you certainly weren't playing it before it was patched.

I've no issue getting 60fps on Brink, as has been said, it's an Ati driver issue. I assume you have an Ati card?

I know what you mean, it would be nice to just have a list of friends and server's they're on with a join button.

I've just been using the Steam overlay to join friends. :)

Bc2 was bad on release as are most games that are released. It's a sad state of affairs but unlikely to change any time soon unless ppl refuse to buy games on release until the games are fixed. But that will never happen.

Worst. Release. Ever.

Not just because it appears to be riddled with issues but even if you wanted to buy it in the UK you cannot.

Seriously give it a ****ing rest with the whole 'its not available in the UK' crap. Its not exactly the first game thats been pulled from Steam in the UK, only this time its not down to HMV or GAME wanting it pulled and it should be back up once they figure out whats up.

Why would you buy it off steam for £30 anyway when its steamworks?

Well I took a chance and bought the thing after a few friends said it was good and after being a huge fan of ET.

From the few minutes I've been able to play it looks like my kind of game but the damn thing keeps crashing and giving me a Brink is not responding message.

I'm running a Q6600 with a GTX460 so it should be up to the job. I checked the Steam forums and trying an earlier driver seems to be the advice given but this hasn't helped. Any ideas guys or am I destined to be angry for the next few weeks?

Evilsod is right, it can be had for £25 on the high street.
