BRINK

Really is pointless to change class on the fly, or spread your ability points across several classes. You just gimp yourself when playing any one class. Doesn't bother me too much though, as I only play Engineer class now as putting a clip into someone with the other classes sees you get shot up by them/their team mates because the guns do pathetic damage without the engi buff.

Just because you need the engi buff to put anyone down doesn't mean that that is true for everyone else.
I have a lot of points in the engineer class and I probably use that the most, especially when defending.
For example, I have hardly any points at all in the operative class but when something needs hacking I change to it straight away and I do just as well both points and kill-wise as when I play any other class.

What are you talking about? The buffs in this game negate damage and the guns already do low amounts of damage. If you go 1 on 1 against an engi, if you both have the same accuracy, the engi will always win, they'll often win if they have worse accuracy thanks to an extra 33% damage. If you don't have the engi buff and come across 3-4 people, you're going to lose because you can't drop them quick enough without the buff, before you get shot. With the buff you have a chance.

As far as splitting ability points across the trees, it's just common sense that you're gimping yourself if you do. Having 4 points in each class for example, means tht when playing any one of the classes you're disadvantaged compared to if you just dropped all the points into that class. There's no way you can argue that point, it's just fact.

Yeah, you put most points into one class, like engi for example as I have done but you pick and choose your perks in the other classes, you choose the best perks. You talk about this game as if you're a one man army and if you're not playing as an engineer, you won't get the buff :S
I've came across a group of 3 before as an operative and put them all down.
It's the same in any game, skill plays a large factor in how well you do.
Like I say, so many people have got this game so wrong.

Unless you're playing as a team and have received the same number of buffs...

I agree with clippa. I've got at least a few perks in each class, with more in some than others. That way if my team starts struggling to meet an objective, I can change to help out and actually make a difference other than upping my own score.

You're more efficient whatever class you play if you put all your points into one of the classes, and the rest into the universal abilities. You can skip on the grenade shooting and sprinting grenade if you want, which leaves 3 or 4 points to put into something else.
If the team is struggling to meet an objective, as you put it, then you can choose to help with one of your classes that only has a couple abilities in, but overall as a player on the field, you're going to be less of a help than if you specced totally into that class.
A team which has 8 players all fully specced into their class, is going to be far more advantaged than a team of 8 players that all have their abilities spread across several.

As far as saying that because you've killed 3 people as an operative it proves that skill is an over-riding factor to the appalling weapon damage - well that's just naieve. Skill wont make your weapon do any more damage, or someones kevlar buff reduce any less damage.

I totally disagree with all of this.
I am one of those people who always goes for the objective and changes class based on what I have to do. Pick and choose your perks and you can be great with every class.

Deific has said all that needs to be said about abilities.

So what exactly is your disagreement with the inability to change body types mid game? They govern what weapons you can take (even if the balance between them is almost non-existent) and your ability to parkour and your maximum health and your move speed. Changing these mid-game is pretty damn important.

It pants and i'm quite annoyed i paid full price.

Agreed. This isn't even a full game, the story line is pathetic and short. The gameplay leaves a lot to be desired and the fact there is no native xbox controller support on pc is ridiculous seeing as this game is out on the xbox 360 to. I actually had to use a workaround involving making a .cfg file to get the controller to work.

All in all this game is not worth the price of a full game.

Wait. You were expecting a story line from this? The campaign is just a tutorial for multiplayer you know.

While I can see your point about no native support for a pad, I can only imagine anyone using one getting completely rinsed online.

It's a multiplayer focused game, were you expecting some grand long single player campaign?

Could your post be more full of fail? Who gives a damn about the story, its merely an excuse to put the maps in with objectives. And controller support? On a PC FPS? How dumb do you have to be to willingly gimp yourself?

Hmm, controller on a pc fps , but everything is just wrong, major server lag, controls feel slow and laboured, your character feels like he's running through treacle, maps are meh, graphics are just as meh.

I had high hopes for this and really wanted and tried to like it, but its turned out to be the biggest gaming disappiontment of the year for me so far :(

Yeh it should have a proper story like TF2 or CSS or.....oh wait....

Should definitely have xbox pad support so we don't have to use those pesky and cumbersome mice....erghhh

*facepalm*

Is this what you tell disabled people? or people that has problems with their wrists using keyboard and mouse for long periods of gaming? or people that just prefer a different way than people of your attitude.

Then perhaps I could tell them to... oh i dunno, play it on a console where they won't be completely gimped and at a major disadvantage? If you choose to be an idiot and try to use a controller in a competitive PC FPS then you will suck badly, thats just a fact.

Great game, a couple of minor niggles with occasional sound loss (happened on 2 out of 60+ sessions) and the messed up writing.

Takes a bit of effort to understand but enjoyable once you get past the learning threshold.

No issues for me.

Well I'm all for enabling people if thats what they choose to do... but playing on a controller in an FPS game against people using KB+mouse has got to be incredibly frustrating... if your gonna use a controller I'd imagine playing on console would be a lot more enjoyable. I guess if it has stronger SP content some people might find a controller useful for that if they had issues with KB+mouse.

I'm definitely in the camp of greatly enjoying this game.. i dont know why people are complaining so much..

With the way the levelling system works i would expect to level up an entire character for each class (were i that hardcore) so i would want to be able to switch between characters when i needed to change class not just change my body type.

Other than this i still have the garbled text but that isn't that big a deal, and most people dont play the game as they should but this is the same with all people online (95% of whom im fairly sure are retarded)

Still im having fun :D

Just had a blast after a while away, I must admit I do generally enjoy it but my main frustration is the frames being all over the shop.

Generally 60FPS, 1920x1080, all max except ambient occlusion and it suddenly dips to 30fps but never lower, it's as if v-sync has limited my FPS between 30-60.

Generally would play with VS off but the game seems to tear a lot.

Enable triple buffering.

Its only double buffering at the moment which halves your framerate if you can't achieve 60, instead of going to 45 which triple buffering would do. (or 30 if your system can't do the 45 either at that point)
