**British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

i start recrut training CTC lympstone on monday, so close now and i haven't prepared at all :D / big fail on my part. Hope i can hack it.

had to wait 3-4 months from selection to start think its closer to 4-5 months now though very crazy considerign takes a while get selection date aswell.

brother is trying to retrade at the moment out of Military Police and is finding it very hard to find anyone willing to take him, i think they are close to full and only taking on minimum recruits
:Drespect for you going royal, I should be up at lympstone in january for my AACC, just doing my build up training just now.

to lemon, at the moment 6 months is is average waiting time from selection to phase1 start, just the way things are at the moment, with the slow down on recruiting, just keep at it though, i'll warn you now, have a bit of discipline about yourself, make life easy and keep up the phys, harder you train now easier phase 1 will be.

After doing a few weeks in a careers office the other week, the way it seems to be a the moment is; The waiting list for all services is massive at the moment, RAF is pretty much completely full, and barely taking on anyone. The Army and Navy are classed as 'full' But we are still taking on recruits, albeit a lot more selective. You really have to start shining at all stages, from interviews early on, to standing out at selection, to your final interviews before going off to basic.

Yeh whilst I've been in the careers office the RAF have just basically told people to come back next year...

There is going to be a noticeable difference in the quality of recruits in the next year. Some of the guys I'm with here can't even speak properly (as in, appear to have some sort of mental problem) - and this is a technical trade.

A lot of the trainees here didn't meet the entry requirements in terms of qualifications either and had them waivered, although they had to score a little higher on the AST.

I honestly wonder how some of these people get themselves dressed in the morning, let alone perform convingcingly enough in an interview to pass selection. What happened a year ago was more akin to fish hauling than selection.

It scares me to think that these are the people we expect to defend our country and that I am supposed to trust them with my life.

Theres going to be a ridiculous improvement in the new entries.

Its annoying as at Raleigh there was so much **** that managed to get through it, even with shocking reports, people who struggled with basic concepts but got away with it.
The worst person I saw was a Fijian, he was ridiculously selfish and was extremely slow(mentally and physically), but also played the dumb card to come across slightly ignorant so his selfishness went unnoticed by superiors.

a lot (not all) of the new guys seem to be complete idiots...as in....don't have any interest in anything and I am not sure WHY they picked a technical trade me like and zefan.

Pah I may end up with him in a month or so

Are there any roles in the military that are dependent on you having perfect vision? Are there any roles that you would be excluded from if you had to wear glasses/contact lenses or if you had had laser eye surgery?

Can agree with that, some people here just don't seem to have a clue and a lot seem to be disinterested!

What course you on Zefan?

I think you need 20/20 vision for aircrew (Pilots/Navs/weapon systems operator etc)

Aircrew of any service needs good eye sight.

Recruiting is good at the moment there will in the upcoming months be an increase in the quality of recruits. Its a fantastic time in that respect.

I would have thought it would be brilliant with the PVR rate been up at the moment (Unless that is just a rumor going around work)

the PVR rate is probably only up because of the amount of **** theyv recruited at the moment, im seeing the new batches of AETs midway through training and theyr a bunch of nuggets compared to the ones who came through a year before, even at the same point in training.
Aircraft handlers are still as dumb as ever too.
