**British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

Got my first simunition cqb range on weds. Anyone done it before? Not looking forward to the "introduction to being shot" part of the day.

As you're past Wednesday now, I'm sure you have experience it, how was it? The few days of trying both 9mm and 5.56mm simunition, the thing I took away from it was you get a LOT of stoppages, which meant your weapon swapping drills improved dramatically lol.

It was good, we've just got a load of CQBi's on our unit, so they were looking to show it off a bit. Went from having never done it before to taking a compound down in 2 days.

Didn't have pistols so can't comment on them, but no stoppages on rifles here, but we weren't putting hundreds of rounds through them. I was massively impressed with the simunition as a whole though, especially compared to blank firing.

There's an operators course coming up so hopefully we'll get more advanced and go on to transitions etc.

No luck in getting to Brize then Zefan? ;)

Hmmm. You.

And no, not yet. Been busy moving out @ Cornwall and then getting another Falklands det. Joy. Will have been in Kernow just under 4 years when I get back, need to start looking where to jump before I'm pushed!

:edit:
lol 2 Ocuk ers on one posting, what could possibly go wrong?
It's one of the more sheltered sleepy hollows as well so not a chance of just not happening to run in to each other :p

Urgh, back to work after summer leave. This is not fun.

How does your leave work, speaking to the guys here they get 3 lots of 3 weeks and then once a month a long weekend (though normally twice a month recently). Is this the norm for the Army?

Every unit is different aren't they. I'm at an army unit and nothing is scheduled but there is the rule that you cannot have longer than 4 weeks off. Last place was 2 weeks. BS really :)

My unit they said you need to take your leave between say 10th of Aug and the 10th of Sep.

Ive been put on a course back in the UK during when i was going to take my leave so they let me start it a week earlier. Currently half way through my 4 week break. Some lads had 5 weeks as they carried over a lot from last year.

Got a Lossie posting written all over it :p

I've got a 12 week Q course coming up, thought I was done with all the boring Cosford-esque powerpoint lessons.

Curses!
