British Grand Prix 2010, Silverstone Circuit - Race 10/19

Still no news on the Senna issue, has there even been an official press conference from HRT yet about it?

yep

The team said that an explanation would be given on Friday morning but the statement did not arrive until mid-afternoon. HRT explained that it simply wanted to give Yamamoto an 'opportunity' to dive at the British Grand Prix.

The statement read: "In respect to the rumours about Bruno Senna's current status with Hispania Racing, HRT F1 Team, the team wants to confirm that Bruno Senna has all the support of the Spanish team, that he remains one of the Hispania Racing, HRT F1 Team official drivers and that he will be continuing to drive in the remaining races of the 2010 Formula 1 world championship."

Yeah, they announced that just before I left the circuit that he would be back for the rest of the season.

Anyone going for any of the days of the rest of the weekend, make sure you take some sunscreen, it's roasting! Caught the sun a little myself even with a holiday tan and suncream on. I saw plenty of people walking around with their tops off looking a bit lobster red... err Rocket Red!

I think I spent the entire day in the shade. I normally walk round the cirucit, I made it from Woodcote to Copse, that's it. Way too hot :(

Can anyone recommend soem decent chairs for general admission ? Last year I took some comfy foldable garden chairs but they were a bit heavy. After something a tad lighter this year, and comfy too. Cheers for any suggestions

McLaren are ditching the exhaust driven diffuser for the rest of the weekend and rebuilding the cars overnight to the previous spec.

Sounds like they haven't been able to get the setup with the new package yet around the redesigned circuit.

Too much to work out in one go?

Exactly.

Whenever a team brings in a "big update", in general, that car seems to struggle. This is mainly because the balance of the car can change so massively, that it takes time to dial the car in. To expect to do this with only a few hours track time is pushing it.

This is why we've seen teams in the past who have brought big up updates, struggle during that particular weekend and get dissapointed. The following race weekend though, they usually do well, as they now have a full weekend's test data. We are seeing this right now, with Ferrari - Alonso is currently top of the time sheets.

The best strategy is to make small changes every single race, which is now the strategy that Ferrari will be using.

Another reason why I think teams boast about "big updates" is gamesmanship, ie. to scare other teams. Another reason may also be to give their drivers confidence.

FP3 on now, tho I expect you're all watching already. Nothing really happening so far.

Vettel in No.1. Expect the 2 RBR cars on the front row today, however, more importantly, Ferrari are lying 2nd and 3rd.

I did predict that Ferrari would be strong at Silverstone, but lets see what happens in qualifying.

For whatever reason, the McLaren's aren't high up on the time sheet and there is less than 9 minutes of this session to go...
