British Grand Prix 2011, Silverstone Circuit - Race 9/19

Bit curious as to why Hamilton ran slicks halfway through the session when the track was clearly not ready for them. And then stayed out on them for a number of laps? I assume they are trying to establish the cut over point for race day. I guess they determined that that wasn't it :)

Yeah 100% agree with your analysis, with the tyres changing almost every race, they have to find at what point they work well on the telemetry and how much of a loss they are at the wrong time.

Aero tuning. The wet tyres alter the ride height of the car. They wanted a set of slicks to do some constant speed aero analysis.

Just watched fp1 and is it me or does it look like you carnt see the cars in far end of the pits from the grandstands??
Seems to be a high wall there ???

Yeah, the main straight is an incline and the pitlane is level. It starts off almost as high as the pit wall and drops to a good few meters below track level by the end of it. Dont know about visibility into the garages though, will have to wait for someone who is there to confirm.

Good point, it could be this.

Don't they have a new defuser and some other updates. They said that Ross was pretty happy, and they expect to be much better come the German GP.

You're probably right though.

Renault also claim to have gotten to the root of their problems. (they must have found a few million in a suitcase somewhere then) lol

Just wanted to tell you guys that we have just introduced the Red Button on TVCatchup.com for the webplayer, ipad and iphone.
