British Grand Prix 2011, Silverstone Circuit - Race 9/19

That would explain why the cars still sound odd in slow corners, then again I don't know what percentage = noise level, it could just be the position of the microphones.

Still, would not be suprised, ******* FIA

Was picked up on the 5live coverage of FP2 I think. They had a text or tweet from what I guess was someone watching at the track saying how it sounded like Red Bull were still hot blowing.

Could also explain the chat Whitmarsh & Domenicali were having during FP2.

Right from what I'm seeing on twitter, as engine specs where frozen in 2009, Renault where using 50% back then, mercedes an undisclosed or at the new limit and Ferrari on 10%.

What a total mess up. Why did they try banning it in the first place.
Hey for all you saying it was cheap and easy and could be done instantly, do you still think that.
If they are to say 10% make it 10% or you exist your exhaust somewhere else.

Engine specs were frozen, ECU engine mapping wasn't. If Renault engines have gone from 50% to 90% for EBD's, then they can go back down to 10% now they are banned.

Sounds like the have managed to convince the FIA that the primary purpose of 50% off throttle is to cool valves, not blow diffusers, and the FIA have bought it. What a load of ****!

Turns out, instead of enforcing 10% they've decided to allow whatever was happening in 2009.

So, no huge change for Renault powered vehicles who were already cold blowing then.

*sigh*

But this is total crap. The part of the engine mappings that has changed was not something that was part of the freeze in 2009?!?

McLaren should bring out a refuelling rig and reduce the size of their fuel tank and refuel during the race. After all, it was allowed in 2009...

Dig out those adjustable front wings too.

And those shark fin engine covers.

Not at all. Just as I haven't forgotten about Renault getting away scot free with some pretty serious **** over the years! :)

Sorry, I wasn't dissagreeing, just pointing out they haven't always had it their own way.

This is just total rubbish though. 10% off throttle rule for everyone, except people who were using it in 2009. I mean WTF? Thats just idiotic!

so i taske it renault got the 29% more open throttle at 18,000rpm they wanted?

why dont they stick all of the engines on a really basic chasis with no aero faff and see how equal the engines really are, i doubt the renault is as crap as they keep making out
