The general consensus is that Sky will be matching the competition for speed by the end of the year, just without any restrictions like their LLU product.
End of the year? Why not sooner, just seems bizarre to me.

Checked mine after reading the above .... but all is intact![]()

For the same reasons that BT didn't release 80/20 straight away. They will want to assess sign up numbers and their impact on a new infrastructure.
It's launched today via telephone, as I say, get with the program sister.
Sorry, was too busying enjoying higher speeds than this service for the last two years to pay any attention to anything sky had to offer. At least they're finally catching up now.. just before being left behind again![]()
.... anybody? Go on run some tests see if your connection is playing about, mine has been all day.
Ooh just hit the upgrade button, predicting 75mb/s down, have to wait until monday for it to be enabled though? Zzzz
That's probably because everyone else is testing their's and saturating the servers, in the hope they've been upgraded early.![]()
It should enable tonight between 00:00 and 04:00.
Apology accepted, just remember to get your facts straight next time you try being mr clever clogs![]()

Might not be able to get FTTC yetregardless of the fact i live in a large town and our exchange is setup for FTTC...
Just ran around the block and realised all the cabinets are the smaller kind and don't look new..
Line checkers can't get anything on my number and the postcode gives an ADSL2+ reading..
CURSES!!!
The person I was referring to doesn't pay for the VPN, the only time he "wasn't thinking" was when he signed up for BT.
The ISP I'm with uses the same people to answer the phone as they use to manage the network, which when I call is the level of expertise I'm looking for.
I like that I can call them and ask for interleaving to be turned off on my line to improve my ping, or for my target signal/noise ratio to be changed to fine tune between speed and stability based on my individual line attenuation. Last time I tried this with BT I was transferred between 4 people until I eventually found somebody who knew what I was talking about to tell me they wouldnt do it.
Chances are if you have no idea what I'm talking about then you and BT (or any other mainstream ISP) are going to get along just fine.
Wow. So if someone is a BT customer you immediately tar them with the "they must be an idiot" brush?
FYI my ISP history goes something like this: AOL, Global Internet, MSN, Claranet, RedHotAnt, Freeserve, Nildram, Pipex, Opal, TalkTalk Business, BT Infinity. I've scaled modem technologies from 14.4K to 56K Flex to V.90 to V.92 to ADSL1 512K to ADSL2 2Mbit to ADSL1 8Mbit to ADSL2+ 16Mbit to WBC FTTC 40Mbit and now WBC FTTC 80Mbit.
Come on then. Let's see your history if you like to compare e-peens?
I selected BT Infinity because they were the best in the current crop for the most realistic price. In 18 months time the variety will be far greater and I can consider moving to a more business oriented ISP.
Nobody that's clued up gives a **** about telephone support. I can probably count on one hand all the phone calls I've ever made to my ISPs over the last decade.
