Mine dropped breifly about 5 mins ago but the speed test shows i'm still on 40 (Only 150m from cab) o.O

you need to reboot everything mine did that until I rebooted, I think the line profile was stuck.

Don't reboot the modem though.

Yeah mine's just dropped and resynced at 74826. Speed tests show I'm getting the same downstream but getting 16Mbit upstream. Odd.

Same downstream but 16MB upstream here as well.

speedtests:

38 down 9 up - before
38 down 16 up - now

Was told I would get 65 down 20 up. Will check again in the morning.

edit:

75 down 15 up after reestablishing PPPoE. :D

Just cleared the PPPoE session on my firewall and let it reauthenticate and now I'm getting 70Mbit of throughput :) So as Locky said, leave the modem alone, just reboot your router or re-establish the PPPoE connection and you should be ok.

Little too far from my cab to get max sync, but I'm still happy with 70Mbit of actual throughput :) Sync is 74826 downstream and 16877 upstream. Translates to approximately 8500KB/sec download speeds, or 8.3MB/sec so that's decent enough for me.

Oh thats got it well nearly, got the download but not the upload!

Download Speed: 74154 kbps (9269.3 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 8990 kbps (1123.8 KB/sec )

Seems the speed upgrade does kick in automatically but you may only notice increased upload speeds until you restart your router. You don't need to touch the Openreach modem though so no need to reboot that.

So what happens if you do reboot the modem as I was going to do the unlock firmware. Does it make the BT network think your connection isn't stable and try a lower speed or, basically doesn't matter in the slightest?

Rebooted the router a couple times, up to 75mb ish, but still 7mb ish upload. Honestly couldn't give a flying monkeys about the upload though....

EDIT:- I'd obviously never, ever download anything illegal of the 1080p variety and at 10gb in size, but Newzbin pro is managing a sustained full 80Mbps download, gets as high as 80.7Mbps, and its estimating 14.5mins or so for 10gb download. A full 10MBps sustained that is just freaking awesome.

I got disconnected twice, once when my upload doubled. Then again when my download nearly doubled.

In the space of a month, I've gone from this:

There is no training period for FTTC, so it won't make any difference when you hack the modem and reboot it.

My upgrade was completed at about 12:30 :)

Not bad, not bad at all!

Line is about 200-250m long, to the cabinet.
