BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Just restarted the PPPoE connection and after a quick speedtest I'm getting 55Mbit, the next thing to try is the test on a quicker computer as the modem stats say I'm connected at 71Mbit.

All this talk of a speed increase has got me wondering when (if ever) FTTP will be available here!

Mine did this same at about 20 past midnight, my upload speed has doubled by downstream did not change, I rebooted both my modem and router and now down has gone up to, I didn't realise only had to reboot router but oh well.

Also could anyone recommend a good router for replacing the HH3? I hate the fact I can't monitor ICMP traffic to monitor my ping without putting my PC into DMZ.

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 7Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 6Mbps and 8Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 15Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 8.5Mbps and 19Mbps. Our test also indicates that your line could support an estimated ADSL 2+ Annex-M broadband upstream line speed of 1.5Mbps and downstream line speed of 15Mbps; typically the downstream speed would range between 8.5Mbps and 19Mbps.

A joke, I pay £13.50/month for Be Unlimited, used to be faultless. I called up weeks back and they said it's gotta be the adsl filters so changed 'em ........ the woman said that they can see my poor speed.

Takes the paste! I wanna move!!! BT infinity? I use Torrents/newsgroups a lot.

I'm moving into a place in July and, according to SamKnows, the FTTC upgrade should be completed by the end of June in the area so I'm hoping to jump straight in with Sky.

Apparently the place is approx 486m away from the exchange. Is this an adequate sort of distance to expect a good connection speed?

Right, Seems my telephone order didn't go through for the speed upgrade.

Filled in the web form :D, now tracking (didn't before)

To be activated by Monday 12am.

Exchange distance is irrelevant (unless it's TOO close, in which case you can't get FTTC at all anyway!). What you need to know is how far away the cabinet is.

So if your say 300 metres way from the cabinet , what sort of speed would you get roughly ?

tried rebooting my router but stuck at same speeds, I've emailed a moderator on the BT forums he said he'll look into it for me so hopefully it's fixed today

Before the upgrade I was showing 70000 (70meg) downstream on the bt infinity modem. This was when I first got it installed 4 months ago.

Why have my download speeds not really increased much at all? Also why am I getting so much errors on my line?
