BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Happy with that, think that's all the line will do as it's not the shortest in the world.

Going to be incredibly painful if I ever have to go back to ADSL.

Hmm, really odd, I've got the router upstairs, a cable from "computer" room to my room, with a TPlink gigabit switch then connected to my comp. I get 80Mbps download, but my upload won't go above 7.4Mbps. Downstairs my laptop is connected via a powerline adaptor. This is on a extension cable upstairs as all the plugs are so low on the wall it doesn't ruddy fit any of them, and normal plug downstairs. 200mbps powerline plugs and I get 25Mbps download, but the upload is testing at 14Mbps downstairs?

So 7Mbps on gigabit lan connection and a limited powerline connection( is 25Mbps about right or low for powerline) but the upload works at double speed?

My ping seems to suck, well not "suck" obviously, its 17ms or so, but seems strangly high too London servers as I'm so close, my ping was higher before and all speed testers detected me as based in Leeds and tested in Manchester... but that resolved itself after the first week, some dodgy BT routing there that got fixed it seems and pings came down from 25-30ms to 15-20ms. Is interleaving enabled as standard, and how much does it generally add to ping?

Depends on your device. I'm using a Juniper SRX firewall so it was just a CLI command but for most home routers, including the HH3, I imagine you'd have to just reboot the thing.

bah still nothing here, tried rebooting my draytek but still at 40/10, cmon bt upgrade meeee :). happy to see u guys getting nice speeds tho :)

Well mine has dropped to 28mb and it was at 37mb beforehand. I guess I'll have to wait a bit seems like it's in the upgrade phase or whatever hopefully.

This is exactly what happened to me yesterday, I had constant low speedtests oh and I also noticed by speedtest location moved from Aberdeen to London (now back at Aberdeen again)

BT suggested speed would be 80 :(

How can I fix it?

Tried rebooting router or using different servers?

Oh and tried another recent test?

Have you tried:
- different ports on the router and switch
- new cables between router, switch and PC
- your laptop direct to router or switch

Still not getting the upgrade, rebooted router, nothing:( despite requesting the upgrade.

What the best number to call them on to have a moan.

If they said the upgrade was going to take effect today, BT have until midnight tonight to implement it.
