BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Well i finally got around to setting mine up last night as its been dormant for a while since the engineer installed the original 40/10 product and then plugged it out and left it while we decorated for a month.

I signed up for the 80MB and after a day or three of the upgrade going live on the 13th stopped being lazy and plugged everything in and ran a speedtest and was getting speeds of 18mb and 6mb upload.... The speed checker estimated me at 66.7mb

I dont know if this is due to my modem being plugged out when i got the 80mb upgrade but in the morning when i have time im going to sit down and look again at bt speedtester and what the line profile is.The pings are fine and very low but ALL of the normal speedtest.nets actually suck.

6MB upload got me quite mad and upset as i was expecting the 38/8 everyone else got on speedtest. My checker always estimated me at 40/10 and now it is 66.6MB so i dont know whats wrong or why my upload would not say something like 16mb upload as surely speedtest.net can manage to max my upload? I have tried manchester aberdeen london and maidenhead.

I installed everything right i think... red fininity cable into lan port 1 on the BT VDSL2 modem i did not enter into the router though yet as i preume it does not need any settings or tweaking?

I think some of us are witnessing the same issues ADSL2 first had with stuck profiles and training of the lines. I will be leaving mine to see what happens in the next few days or so.

Anyway, meh it's better than I had so will just stick with what I got. It's not like I'm paying any extra.

Is anyone having to reset their router each morning? I'm doing a speedtest each morning and its barely hitting 3-4Mbs. After a reset its back up to the normal 37Mbs?

Thinking of getting old TP-Link TL-WR841N out for a whirl.

Nope, but I do have to reboot it from time to time due for a speed issue when transferring files from PC to TV.

they did that with with me i just waited 3 days and upgraded the speed through mybt.com

Having loads of problems with Be at the moment with the routing fault that quite a few people seem to be suffering from.

My exchange was enabled in Dec 10 but my cabinet is still awaiting upgrade and it's down as Phase 9b. When is Phase 9b going to start? If it's not too far in the future I'll stick where I am as I don't want to move to another ISP and end up with a 12 month contract.

This is the reason I left BE there.

Seems their issues are never ending.....

Dont know but i have absolutely zero issues with my BE connection...websites load up quick and my download/upload speeds are good ie i get 18mb down and 1mb upload.

But saying that im seriously looking at going fibre but not 110% sure about BT's policy on traffic shaping...thats the only thing thats putting me off. Plus looking at their speed checker, i can get 76/18mb down and upload but id hate to get it then find out im only getting half the speed lol.

A bit like when the Blackberry network went down.

Nothing at all like the Blackberry network that went down...that was catastrophic as you couldnt even use any of the internet service ie email, web browsing and BBM. As i said my BE connection is as stable as it ever was.

Be and o2 broadband customers are all experiencing major issues in the past week... the issues are on there side and have not been fixed.

The issues are websites take ages to load and most dont load including online banking websites and even ebay.

Irony is half there customers cannot even raise a support ticket since o2 website does not load or takes 20 minutes to load, most of there customer service teams are unaware of the issue, but be customer services and o2 are aware of some of the issues.

It is a routing issue but they have not really fixed it as of yet....

Just got an email from Zen saying I get to keep my 80/20 for free :) Love this ISP!
(they're rolling it out to all their customers automatically for no extra fee/contract)
