BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Not happy as BT have upweighted my bill package now despite telling me it would stay the same. Contract extension and £10 a month more to pay.

Nice for them I guess.

What? There is no way they can do that, I'd call them up and kick up a big fuss, that's a joke to be honest.

Most ive done is about 650gb in a month. Since September ive done over 3 tb. My biggest problem is not bandwidth at the moment but hard drive space. Just waiting for HDs to reduce back to sensible levels again, so i can buy some new 3tb hd.

Linux isos, obviously. Or continually redownloading an entire Steam library.

Short of that I have literally no idea how you can legally download over 1TB a month without just downloading random data.

Well it means you can just download/stream stuff in crazy high quality :)

monthly
rx | tx | total | avg. rate
------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
2.41 TiB | 4.67 TiB | 7.08 TiB | 24.39 Mbit/s
------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
estimated 2.59 TiB | 5.01 TiB | 7.61 TiB |

Linux distro addict..:)

Sky Anytime at absolute maximum bandwidth in optimal quality uses at maximum 2gb per 120minutes (per Skys advice). Thats 744GB a month, if you literally have it on 24/7 all 31 days a month. Netflix is similar, Lovefilm is less.

You are talking utter rubbish (again).

Isn't 'Ultra HD' gonna be like 300mbps bit rate? I see that China has been doing 250Mbit tests for HD broadcasts.

Its a shame BT only care about headlines, because there is a hell of a lot of people with shocking Internet, 50MBPS is all anyone is going to need in this country for many years to come. There is people in the next street from me still running sub 10mbits because the cabinets are just sat about unused (over 12months).

Its also a shame we don't even get proper HD content on tv over here :( 3000-6000KBPS ...

BT Infinity's Upload must kill Virgin Media's, im getting quotes of 16meg upload when i test for my area! Anyone know what Virgin Medias uplaod speeds are for their new 60MEG package?

6Mb/s after the upgrade.

Really??, well i guess its 4x faster than what im getting atm on my 20MEG connection but its not a massive amount is it?, just done a test.........

I'll be getting the free upgrade to 60MEG and new homehub thingy next week so ill do a comparison test then.

Why is Virgin Media lagging behind BT Infinity in the upload stakes??
