BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Not 100% sure on the 80Mb but I'm sure I heard it's not fully rolled out yet, but I imagine if you can get 40Mb you can upgrade once 80 becomes available.

80/20 is available to everyone, as long as they're close enough to the cab/line is decent.

I'm not to impressed with it so far my connection completely died after being up for about 8 hrs the only thing I could do to get it back was reboot the modem and MW3 is even worse than before and that's saying something.

I do wish they'd hurry up and get Rochdale active for FTTC, as the villages and smaller towns have a status of accepting orders, which include Littleborough and Heywood!

June 2012 is what the map says, knowing my luck they wibt activate the cabs :p

Know what you mean, I live near Bury, pretty populated area, yet no plans for the exchange I'm on to be upgraded with every other exchange nearby has already been sorted :(

Had a friend who looked at buying a house in Radcliffe beginning of the year, but, he wouldn't buy it, because his exchange couldn't get fttp until end of 2013 or start of 2014.

Yeah, 2013. I'm classed as Radcliffe in terms of address but on the Farnworth exchange, doubt we'll ever get FTTC, shame as I am 15 meters from the cabinet (apartment wiring not included)

Thinking of jumping on to Infinity after 7 years with Virgin Media. Mainly due to cost, I'm paying £40 a month for just the internet from Virgin, it's obscene. I'm also fed up with their over subscribed network in this area.

Quick question

How accurate is the Infinity speed checker? My estimate is 44.7Mb down and 6.5Mb up. Quite disappointing up speed considering it's upto 18Mb up.

Tbh, price wise Infinity isn't really that much cheaper, sometimes more expensive than VM. You will be paying at least £36 for Infinity, so not much of a difference to what you currently pay.

Modem is overheating even on a table out of direct sunlight (what sunlight?) and in a cool breeze now :(

Do they even bother swapping them? Presumably they're all as bad as each other. Don't really want to have to set up a large fan!

Grr , someone on my road decided to put up loads of stupid flags, they are now tangled around my phone line...

Wall mount it. ;)

Quick question, I opted out of FON, will this also disable Openzone on the router or do I have to do something extra to disable it? (Home Hub 3)

Had the engineer swap mine for a nice new one, as the original one would get very hot, then cut out for while until cool, then heat up again & repeat all over again.

And mine was wall mounted.

Excellent. Sounds like I'll be giving Zen a call after the long weekend then.

It will disable automatically. Might take up to 24 hours to do so.

Finally after 2 months of placing the order, BT finally has an engineer appointment booked! :D

Who if anything like mine, will not even turn up to install it, and not let you know, and when you phone will assure you they will come. Change your appointment to the afternoon so you have to take the rest of the day off and then never turn up! good luck!
