BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Mine is showing as excepting orders, ive talked to bt and theyve just said its not available yet. any ideas how long it takes to be available?

As we're past the 30th September I would say Openreach :p.

As above though they're all holding dates so it could either be any time from now until that date, or it'll roll on to the next holding date (31st March 2013).

Ahh I see :)

I only asked as a friend in another part of town, his exchange also had the holding date set to Dec 2012, then boom as of last week he has Infinity :p

All this waiting about is driving me nuts, I have games I refuse to download until I'm on a faster connection, waiting a week for a 20gb+ game to download isn't on my to-do list :p

If you look through this thread and have a quick google you will find lots of similar stories

BT like to been seen enabling exchanges, doing a few cabs then make a big announcement about the next batch of exchanges.
Its pot luck if you get it near the original exchange enabled date but if not the likelihood is you'll have a bit of a wait, while bt jog on to the next town

Id love to see figures but id doubt that of all the exchanges enabled few of them will have more than 50% of attached cabs enabled too

Got Infinity installed this morning, for free (Mum works for BT) and it was fine for an hour, but since 11-12 this morning it's been offline.

The broadband light on the HomeHub has been constantly yellow and restarting it has no effect.

Because my order is still classified as "Open" they can't do anything till tomorrow when it becomes "closed"

Has this happened to anyone else?

It might be that bt have stuffed something up and you are not connecting to the radius server. I would try and complete power down of the modem and router, don't just turn the modem off, hold the reset button in and when the modem lights go off power it off for about 5 mins.

BT Install was supposed to be yestuday. No show from the engineer, this is the second time this has happen.

Still have my virgin 100Mbps but I want off it to a more low latency (and hopefully) more reliable connection.

I'd hate to have no connection at all.

BT - sort it out!

BT's latency isn't great tbh, your connection will do a few laps of the uk before reaching the server.

I have a BT land line and Broadband package, I click upgrade to Infinity once it says I'm eligible, it takes me to the Infinity 2 package that advertises £10.75 line rental, I fill in all the necessary details, then it says the package isn't available but still lets me choose Infinity 2 internet.

Is this an error in their system or is it because I'm already on a contract?

Sounds like an error, I was able to upgrade from the ADSL package to the Infinity 2 package while I was still on contract.

Might be best to call them up about it, it's what I did.
