BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

waiting on a openreach engineer this morning to install the fibre, hope they dont cancel :(
my o2 ADSL is still connected,im thinking thats not a good sign ?

It will be still connected up until the engineer arrives.

Openreach have recently installed two fibre cabinets either side of the main road running through this area but nothing near any of the cabinets around me. As I have already been told by the NGO office my cabinet may be re-considered next year I didn't really think much more of it.

Out of curiosity I just checked the Openreach website and it is now saying it Fibre should be available on my cabinet in September :). Either my cabinet isn't where I thought it was or they are going to working their way down (as soon as they can get past the water and gas contractors digging up every other road around here).

I won't hold my breath that I will be able to order it in September but at least things are moving along. Just need to decide if I stick with Sky or switch to BT when I can.

This is retarded. My Openreach order is 'stuck' due to 'an exception' so cannot be cancelled, meaning a new appointment cannot be booked, and I cannot get an update until 9th July (the original booking they failed to turn up for was 1st July).

And I have no reference number or contact details to speak to them about it. I just have to keep pestering Plusnet.

How are they allowed to operate like this!?!

What's so special about BT's filter? I've already got a filtered NTE5 with separate voice and data extensions. http://www.clarity.it/xcart/product.php?productid=16134&cat=0&featured=Y

Nothing probably, but most people with existing ADSL connections have separate line filters rather than filtered faceplates.

They'll also presumably provided as part of the package, and essentially FOC, rather than having to pay for them (almost £12 for a faceplate is taking the ****).

I cant understand why the benefits of filtered faceplate's hasn't been more publicised, all these people with low speed connections would more than likely see huge speed increases as soon as there poor extension wiring is no longer dragging their sync speed down.

Granted I only jumped on the bandwagon fairly recently, but I really don't get why anyone who would be looking at FTTC (and therefore interested in the speed) wouldn't already have done the whole filtered faceplate and ring bell wire thing.

seriously ****** off with BT.
Fibre for my post code first available Jan13, then moved to Mar13, then to Jul13, now they moved it to between Oct13 - Mar14. The cabinets have been at the bottom of my road for about 9 months. How can they get an estimation so wrong, so many times?

Please fully star out all swearing in future. Thank you.

The reason for that, your exchange haven't enabled yet for FTTC or need to wait for the final power output to the cabinet. One of my mate had the same as your too, he wait for 14 months (the FTTC cabinet there for 14 months) before BT switch it on and go LIVE at last. You're have to wait for BT final decision.

But why do they do that? Surely they're missing out on 14months worth of fee-paying customers money?

First time since I had infinity over a year ago that issues have come up and the infamous BT Customer "support" strikes again.

Every time a vehicle drives down my road, my internet drops (without fail) - yes customer support, it really is a problem with my router.

Aberystwyth bookmarked for June 2014 according to Superfast Cymru. Time machine needed!

Hope they stick to that date (or bring it forward :D)
