Hope it's fitted out. :p Seriously, fingers crossed for you. :)

Finally gone live, the cabinet has been installed for nearly a year, just placed my order for Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro. They gave me 12 months line rental free as well.

Because I'm next to the cabinet as well, I should get a decent speed. But tbh I'll be happy with anything over my current 5mb.

Don't say things like that - I got my cabinet in January and got all excited, now I see it could be another 10 months yet :-(

The geography of the area means I live the furthest from the exchange.

I assume they fitted it first because it was the most modern development with easiest to access ducting etc.

I recall a long long time being spent by Electricity Northwest running new cabling/ducting with Openreach from the older part of the town.

I reckon it'll be all down to the area. We had to have a new electricity supply fitted for nearly a mile or two, now whether that was for the cabinets, I'm not too sure.

So to put it in context, Openreach put the cabinet in first, Electricity Northwest put in supply (which only finished recently) and it was a fairly quick turn around from when the supply was finished to the service going active :) probably a couple of months at the most.

mines still listed as a june activation date even though all the cabinets seem to be in locally and have been hooked up.

just phoned sky and they have no info at all, the guy says they get told the same as anyone else via the openreach site.

Are there any ongoing, upcoming roadworks planned for your area GAC?

roadworks.org

i used that for a long time checking when fibre might become available, only with the end of some major roadworks did I then have a better idea of when the service would become available.

Either way, I feel your pain waiting for it.

handy wee site, only thing on there is something 5 mile down the road

"Description : To fully reinstate interim site. 1st time permanent reintstatement...."

god only knows what that is, but for where i actually live theres nothing planned or anything. all the cabs are in localy that i know of though.

Yes it does as I'm connected to Cab8 which you can see just behind the new cab ;)

lucky sod then, you'l be maxing it out.

What happened to BT Infinity? Haven't kept up with it for months, but I thought originally everyone was raving about it being better than VM for stability and maintaining good speed, but has it too become oversubscribed in areas?

Very, and the constant 15% plus packetloss at peak is a killer too.

If you haven't read them already a couple of articles from thinkbroadband

No sign yet of BT Wholesale congestion improving
Update Thursday 20th March 2014 BT Wholesale has supplied a statement regarding the backhaul capacity issues

BT Wholesale continues to invest in adding new capacity to its next generation broadband network to meet the growing bandwidth requirements of its communications provider customers and their broadband users. According to Ofcom's measures, our network performs strongly in terms of throughput and minimising packet loss, jitter and delay.

However, we recently encountered some technical issues along the way when rolling out extra capacity. This may be affecting network performance for some ISPs across a small number of exchanges.

We have planned fixes in place for these issues and whilst some will be resolved very rapidly, others are more complex and may take longer to fix.

We continue to work hard to fully resolve these problems. In the meantime, we would urge communications providers to contact us should they have any concerns around bandwidth and network performance."

Is BT Wholesale putting new connections on hold?
