Just seen this thread. My speeds are max but they don't seem right as it takes web pages an age to load. Theres a 31 page thread on bt forums regarding this issue and bt are now admitting its a problem internally but only since its been reported to the press.

Call them. I think they can reset your connection speed. Then leave the equipment turned on and it will settle down at your optimal (speed/stability) bandwidth.

thanks :) will give them a try next week

its perfectly useable - just with a whole family watching streamed content etc these days - 10 mb or so does make a bit of a difference out of 40 so its annoying to loose it

This might finally have them admit this a problem they cant keep ignoring. Ive had customer services tell me Im a liar, the 31 pages of complaints on their own mega thread are full of trolls,my computer needs replacing (4770k,980,500gb ssd) and it must be shady websites.....including OCUK :p

This is my experience with BT,im stuck with them as im in a rural area and have no other options.

They make no effort to be helpfull, they give mis-information and outright lies sometimes too when you try to get major issue rectified. And from my experience they actually have no idea what the hell they are doing.Been with them for the past four years, and sadly i have a number of separate horror stories regarding them Customer service and support.

To best sum it up,every single time my connection has gone down or becomes extremly intermittant(talking 200-300 disco/reconects a day) their support always says "No the problems in your house, the line to your house is fine and appears to working perfectly fine" eventually usually at least 8 weeks of complaining/contacting them through multiple avenues eventually they will dispatch an engineer. Each time when they (eventually) show up the problem isnt in my house but elsewhere at the exchange or between the two.But according to BT its 'Always a fine stable connection to my property"
Took 3 months last time for them to even bother fixing my connection, and its still IMO not particularly great,at least it seems stable at least

Absoulty the worst company i have dealt with when comes to any sort of service providing(Mobile/phone/electric ect ect).I honestly dont know how they get away with it.

Disgracefull

Glad I read this thread first, was looking for a new router as I thought it was playing up, seems it's more of the same issues. 14 years with BT and this is the first time I've thought about leaving.

randomly mine seems ok

then suddenly a bbc page will take ages to start loading

or a video on bbc refuses to load

Sky Go playing up as well - but not sure where at fault on that one - but constantly buffering for me

By any chance has crosstalk ever been an issue for anyone with VDSL2 or do BT utilise techniques like vectoring? Does it really have a large impact once lots of people take up Fibre? Holding the trigger over 40Mb or 66Mb. We are only 300 or so metres from the cabinet and FTTC has just been enabled. The 66Mb package works out exactly £10 more a month over the 18 month contract. Doesn't seem bad for an extra 26Mb if you actually get it.

Was one of the first people to be enabled for FTTC where I live and definitely saw some capacity/possible crosstalk issues as more people jumped on it but after ~3 weeks it was sorted out and not had any congestion type performance issues since so far.

Guess it will just be luck then.

So tempted to go with the faster package. Been stuck on <3Mb for years so I suppose what ever I would get would be amazing.

How easy is it to get a replacement router off BT? My parents Home Hub 3 is having difficulties with the wireless. Yesterday it would only allow clients to connect at 5Mbps and today it is dropping out every few seconds (including the blue icon).

mmmm not sure what the previous owners did with the outside wiring

I've not yet worked out whether those bodge extension things are electrically connected or not - but doesn't look nice !

Wut?

Folks, I'm puzzled. I enter my phone number into the BT checker on the Infinity website and it tells me this:-

'Please contact your communications provider' - Well, that's BT. I would have thought they would know if I can get FTTC or not?

If I then download the Exchange Roll out PDF list it shows my exchange as 'Accepting Orders Now'. Also, what does the /P indicate at the end of the FTTC?

I iz confuzled. :(

Your exchange will be marked as accepting orders when a certain number of cabinets are made live. Yours might not be yet for whatever reason.

Try putting your phone number in to here - https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html

And if that doesn't give a result try the address checker.

The FTTC/P means they have rolled out FTTP somewhere but it's probably in a very limited area, perhaps a new build housing estate.
