I said no such thing, stop trying to twist my words.

Try explaining your own post?

This is a welcome move, atm come 5pm I stop getting selected host for most games, still perfectly playable but not as good as pre 5pm (even though I'm within FUP limits) so hopefully their FUP enforcement improves this when it dissapears.

What is happening at 5pm?

Thought this might be worth a mention. When I went to the BT Infinity page sometimes you get a pop up window that says speak to a BT Product Specialist. I thought I would give it a try and see what happens and ask a few questions. I got connected and asked a couple of questions but they were a little pushy on signing me up. I enquired about the Option 1 with Calls and they told me if I signed up with them and not using the normal web page they would give me a priority install date (sooner than normal) and waive the £25 installation fee. So anyone thinking of signing up it might be worth your while using this window and try your luck. In end I just said I would think about it.

I am really tempted but only thing is I pay £20.50 for 6mb and calls with O2 and equivalent BT package is £31 inc calls. So I am not convinced over the extra £10.50 just for about 28mb connection and 40gb usage limit. Is it that worth the extra money...

I wouldnt say FTTC with a 40GB limit is worth it, but thats just my opinion.

Yeh, that's my view also, but as I have the basic BT BB via phone line package right now (max mbps for me rounds to a crappy max of 2) .. for me the 'Unlimited' Infinity package for only a few pounds more is well worth it.

..and as a current BT customer with an existing BT phone line I shouldn't have any installation+ extra costs.

Hopefully!

I will go to that link someone suggested earlier when Infinity finally goes live in my area.

Just had mine installed checker said 7mb.

Line length of 1060m, bad bit is its all aluminium to the cab, anyway connected at 17mb and 1mb upload, im happy with that

Funny thing is the engineer who put it in, he cant get it as checker says 14mb for him, he wanted to know how i managed it. BT for ya!

Does the new BT hub have to be plugged into the master socket or can it be plugged into the end of an extension. For instance my router is plugged into a socket upstairs which routes through the walls to the master socket.

hes put a new faceplate on, then he brought the modem, and the hub attaches to the modem, so two things are plugged into the mains

I'm aluminium to the cab too, length is 300m though and get 37/8mb. I'd say your speed will go up a bit.

The engineer who installed mine isn't in an enable area and can only get 2mb on adsl, he wasn't bothered though, said he rarely uses it.

k lads i MIGHT have a house by the 15th this month if all goes well so id appreciate it if some kind soul out there would pray for me :) neighbours from hell forcing a relocation might actually make up for 2 years of hell.

infinity checker states 38mb down 7mb up and its a new build, well 4 years old i think maybe 5 and one of the VERY few places in my village to get it as my last place had a direct connection to exchange.

IF i manage to get this would you think bt is ok? the prices are fine for option 3 inc rental and phone calls BUT as stated earlier is iplayer still capped at 1mb peak? and do you really get 300GB per month? i dont use p2p just newsgroups.im the kind of person who thinks about a new HD film then wants it downloaded within 2 hours while im still in the mood :p

i really cant decide to be honest, im a bit giddy at the thought of hosting black ops servers with the unlimited upload some isps include in the packages.coupled with my new sandybridge rig i could for once since the days of 56k be on top of the online food chain when it comes to pings :D

oh and does the home hub suck? i use wired for gaming and like to tweak the hell out of it to get the pings down.

For me the extra ~£10 doesn't need much convincing as I only get 0.3-0.9mb atm but I can see when you have 6mb it gets more difficult. The BT deal includes 0845 etc. nos which we have to use on a regular basis (when saynoto 08... isn't any help) and this will reduce the difference by several £s.

We get it next week - about time; BT are terrible and the amount of greif they have caused even before its in is amazing. Wouldn't choose to deal with them but atm at their price point I am stuck!

I can see where some people see it worth the extra tenner or so as in your case on sub 2mb speeds although really you shouldn't have to pay out for an expensive alternative when you have no option but to. If they scrapped the line rental then it would be a good deal. At the moment for me anyway its not.

I did read somewhere once that there is no need for BT to charge line rental to BT customers as they make more profit from calls and they were under pressure to scrap it but I can't see it happening soon.

Hey, my rents just changed the Internet from Virgin Media 10mb (<30ms pings, 1.1-2mbps Down, and 0.97-98mbps up) to BT, which i was not there when they called (Angry Face) but my brother was there, the guy said 6mbps, my brother asked if he meant Mega BIT or Mega Byte and it is apparently Megabytes Per second, does that equate to roughly 60mbps? i have assumed it meant 6 mega bit per second? Kinda worried :p i love getting Host on COD and Halo :L and my Low Pings on PC :D

Oh yes, don't get me wrong, i was in exactly your situation, customer of BTs on BT total broadband, was getting 2mbps. I'm extremely happy with Infinity option 2 (37.5 down 8 up :D), especially so now that they have decided to get rid of the FUP. I was just merely mentioning i think that infinity option 1 is slightly disproportional in its allowance to speed. I mean, potentially using up your monthly limit in 2-3 hours can't be a good thing.

BT don't have a 6MByte service.

Rofflay, I've been in exactly the same situation with you, re: neighbors and having to move. Glad to hear it'll be over for you soon.

Back on topic, i'd also be interested in answers to Rofflays questions, as I've just moved to an area that can support BT Infinity. I'm pretty much the same as him with games and download habits!
