Burnount Paradise Demo next week?

Funny thing is not to long ago they struck a deal with some server group or something like that so we would get faster downloads yet they're still painfully slow :(

Xbox live is rubbish, it is official. They stop Silver users downloading new demos and the download speed is still slow. before the excuse people gave was demos are for everyone so you are not paying for it. Now it seems I am paying for it and getting piddly download speeds.

I await a rolleyes from some members who know nothing about networking I guess. But I been waiting all day, the PSN version ain't up and I am getting laughably slow speeds downloading from xbox live again.

My beef is the service used to be fast, and nowadays it isn't. Bloody crap.

/Rant over.

I downloaded the demo at around 2pm and it took about 30 mins to download which I felt to be quite reasonable. I do agree that live does seem to be slower these days but I dont feel it to be unworthy of my 25p a day :D

Your 25p a day got you a better service 6 months ago. If you are happy with that good, I am not.

It's not like they have given us a fast car to demo with, once you unlock the fast cars then I imagine it will shift at some pace :)

Even the slower cars in Revenge felt great. Paradise just seems to have lost that Burnout feel.

You don't have to look for an event - there on the map and always at crossroads :)

I know, but for me Burnout has always been about 'pick-up-and-play' fun, if I want to do a certain event I just want to select it in a menu, choose my car and jump in, not drive across half the city to get to the event I want to play

If you cancel then you will get a refund, so why pay for something you are not happy with? The problem with the internet is when a lot of people want a certain file then it slows down, PC, 360, PSN, its just something that happens.

Funny that, cos when My ISP gets more customers they increase bandwidth. How does that fit into your equation?

You can't just check traffic at your leisure anymore though :)

Unless your driving like J does....

:D

I really don't see a problem with the checking to be honest, I think it's added a new sense of realism now.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and the "free roaming" is a real valid one. But those complaining must remember that this is a demo and the races have been said in a few previews to be available anywhere in the city where there's beacons or a set of traffic lights but are relatively linear. This is exactly like Burnout Revenge where the courses have degrees of variation, shortcuts were the most dangerous (the drainage canal in Angel City a classic example). It's been confirmed that the races are totally seamless; you just pull upto a junction, press the D-pad and race. Likewise you can do the same but invite a friend(s) into the area and they just appear.

It's also been confirmed in a preview that when you initialise a race, a map-view pops into view where you set the start and finish and any designated checkpoints. Now call be a little bit too modern here, but for me or anyone to set up a course on the fly, totally random, where EVERY race has potential to be different and where the rules are set and where you have an entire city to explore so long as you get through designated checkpoints to arrive at a finish sounds bloody awesome. Psymonkee may decide to go the shortest route but means he needs a load of boost to make it over the motorway. I may go the longest, but my journey is easy, and MadFruit may decide he's just gonna go another way, via the back streets and cut us both off! Driving, navigation and stratergy come into play here.

Like I'm adult to accept, each to their own, and there's been doubts about the freeroam for months now, I personally think it's gonna work wonderfully.

Added to the fact of the marked man games (an entire city to search for a car with crashes, wrecks, races galore) means a good several long minutes of sheer hell.

Do they?

Who is your ISP then? maybe you should ask them to add more since its so slow for you currently?

I know more than enough about networking to know when problems are at my end, thanks. Are you confirming that you are getting a faster service, because that seems to contradict your last post. You seem confused on this issue, one minute you accept its slow, now you say its not and the problem is at my end.

Maybe they can refund your 25p for today LOL

funny indeed.

That is all.

Although I can't see what he's putting, due to being on my ignore list, I guess internet bandwidth is also relative to each user.

Mr Men could have a rubberband connection, which means 200-500k per second seems fast.

You're on a lot faster connection, so should be expecting, what, 1.3 - 1.4 megs a second download?

If yours is "only" downloading at 500k per second, then it may be slow for you, but fast for rubberband users!

;)

The only way to be sure of what is slow, and what is fast, is to post what download speed you're achieving!
Gotta make sure you're getting your 25p worth ;)

V1N.

EDIT: I guess it would be fair to assume though, if you're paying for a premium service, that they could furnish enough bandwidth to cover their home users connections

About 500k a sec, whereas I can download service pack 2 at 1.3mb a sec.

I will calm down after some tekken. I have nothing else to say to Mr Men regarding this issue. I snese he knows very little about Networking/ISPs/Bandwidth etc so is arguing for the sake of it.
