Canon 7D, 18-85 f3.5-5.6 IS USM, 18-135 f3.5-5.6 IS USM infos

2199Euros in kit with 15-85mm. So maybe 1799 Body only? So hopefully around £1600?

I was hoping for less. If you say the D700 and 5D II are aimed at each other then the 7D should be pitted against the D300S which are retailing between £1250 to £1500.

that post has a lot cleaner translation. It is sounding better and better.

"The 4th feature that defines the EOS 7D, the 100% viewfinder. The EOS 7Ds viewfinder shows you everything with a 100% field of view, as well as a 29.4 degree viewing angle and 22mm eyepoint. These things result in the EOS 7D having a viewfinder equal in size and brightness to the EOS 1D Mark III. The 22mm eyepoint will allow even eyeglass wearers to comfortably use the EOS-7D. To achieve all this, the EOS-7D uses the EOS-1D Mark IIIs pentaprism"

I'm especially excited about that.

That does sound nice. I wonder if I'd get less nose oil on my viewfinder with the 7D than I do with the 50D. :p I tried the EP-EX15 eyepiece extender, but it's horrible.

Was reading Giz earlier too, seems pretty good, was hoping the ISO performance at 3200 would have been better but I suppose it's expected for a non FF sensor.

Everything else makes me accidentally myself though!

Bound to be hideously expensive.

Just spotted the pre-order price on [is that a competitor? Edited it out, just in case!]: £1699. Even more shocking, it's £700 more if you want the EF-S 15-85mm bundle!

But I remember the pre-order price on the 50D was pretty ridiculous, too. Wait a few weeks, then we'll see where we're at. :)

OUCH!

15-85 price is the major shocker there. I was thinking it would be from the same low-end family as the 18-55 IS and 55-250 IS but, judging by that price, it's from the same school as the 17-55.

I think it's in between: it's supposed to replace the EF-S 17-85mm.

I know lens prices are up there generally at the moment, but, as I said before, I expect these prices to drop somewhat in the next few weeks. It remains to be seen, however, whether that bundle ever becomes a reasonable buy. :)

I read somewhere that the wireless flash trigger is radio-based? How does this work, given that the flashes it listed as supporting are IR only (afaik)? Do you need a separate radio slave to bolt to the bottom of the flash for it to work properly, or can the camera do IR wireless as well?

Its nice and its features are very pleasing.
The real pain the backside is that I want that but in full frame so then you're looking at the new 1Ds or the Mark III 5D.

The ISO performance is loads better on the 5D II based on beta tests but the the swinging features are without doubt the flash control, AF system.

The ISO performance on a FF is always going to be loads better than a crop, regardless of the processing involved.

I think the camera makes perfect sense tbh, it's a pro-level model for those that want a crop sensor, which until now has been absent from their range.

Not seen the price of the Canon but the Nikon Equivalent 16-85 is not cheap.

Expect the lens to have great quality form wide open. The Nikon is too expensive for what it is but is still an excellent lens. The wide end over 18mm lens is a godsend.
