Canon 7D mk2 Thread

I dunno if I'd ever risk being out in bad weather with a camera even if it was weather proof!

In case you've never seen it - the 7d was pretty tough and the 7d2 is supposed to have better weatherproofing :)

It's not the most mature video but despite hitting it with a van a few times, freezing it and cooking it and setting it on fire etc it still worked. I don't think a bit of rain would do much :D

I think he's saying that it's not worth it for him :P Not that Canon wasted money developing good AF :P

Yeah I definitely said for me.
1000 on better AF vs a new lens really. That is the choice for me.
Had it got a swivel screen instead of GPS I'd be more for it.

Sometimes you have no choice, the rain comes to you, at least it does for us northern folk :D

If the 70 is a better fit for you then go for that.

your lens wont help u get better AF without a decent AF from the camera to begin with.

a missed blurry shot is no good mate.

for me i rather have a noisy/average IQ then a blurry missed shot due to a poor AF.

its the reason why i went from a 400d to a 5d3.

Do not understimate the usefulness of a good AF system inside a camera

But good to amazing AF is only going to make a difference in a few occasions (of which I don't get to do much)

I haven't really got a lens for birds in flight for example

Then u should invest in your lenses first before a body.

Your purpose is nothing to do with whether a 7d2 is worth an investment or not because clearly you are after a lens.

Get your lenses first then think about a new body if need be :)

Miracles no but any improvement is a bonus and from my rudimentary understanding of the whole sensor/processor relationship, I'm pretty sure people have said that more powerful processors help with noise reduction but I could be wrong?

Anyway, another video I've had popup on my FB feed from Park Cameras

One interesting qoute from the video was the mention of a high capacity battery which can be used in other Canon DSLR's ! :)

I guess it'll be nice in some cases but I can't say I run out of power very often lol. I've got 2 batteries and even when I've spent a day shooting at an airshow I'm only running out at the end after filling up a few SD cards.

Any in-camera noise processing will only affect JPEGs though, not RAWs. You'll always get better results by processing the RAW outside the camera anyway.

If you use JPEG then the in-camera noise processing improvements may be of interest, otherwise the only thing that really matters is the native noise levels of the sensor, not how much they've managed to improve their noise reduction algorithms.

Imports on the 'bay available for £1159 delivered.

Reviews and user reports will be interesting. Features look great, but ISO performance doesn't really look to have improved which is disappointing. It looks like the noise at 6400 might be finer, but that's splitting hairs from what I've seen. I probably stick with my old 7D until I pick up a 1Dmk4 (or chop it all in and get a D810!).

Well the jpg performance is fairly unanimously much better but there's not many good comparisons of the RAW noise performance. The few I've seen do seem to say it's better but not by a whole lot. Once Adobe update the clients for these new RAW files then I guess people will be able compare things more easily with their own shots.

I'll be on the look out for some reviews but I think I'll still end up getting one. A second hand 1Dx is the only other possibility for me and that's still double the price :\

DPP supports the 7D2 now, there are a few who got their cameras a day early before Canon managed to get the delivery embargo message out :D

At the import price it is tempting, I'm in no rush though so will just wait until the user reports start to come in.

Yeah I saw the DDP was available but I'll still wait for Adobe stuff to be out too :) Gives me a reason to wait and be patient for once!

DR has them for £1399 which is somewhere in the middle as far as prices go

Hopefully my new flash YN 600EX-RT thing will calm my buying urges for a while when it arrives!
