*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

What shampoo wash do people recommend? I've had meguiars shampoo plus in the past and currently using gtechniq shampoo, but it's quite expensive and I'm not sure it's worth the expense.
I am a big fan of Tac systems Mystic Bubble, I recently ran out and I decided to try something else Car Chems 1900:1. Both of these are excellent value for money at around £10 for 500ml and as they are both a highly concentrated and last for ages 500ml will give you about 20 to 30 washes depending on which one you use. At the moment still prefer Mystic bubble, but I only used the 1900:1 for the first time yesterday.

Can’t comment on bilt hamber, it’s on my list of shampoos to try.

I’ll give auto wash a try sometime in the future, I’m good for now though having just picked up some Chemical Guys Mr Pink to try out, it was only a tenner too.

OG Glaco with the polish and protection ftw. Spray seems ok but not when you apply and its already covered with bugs and crap, specially in the summer!

Couldn't wash the cars so they'll have to stay dirty, but gave the Focus ST it's 6 monthly interior clean.

Koch-Chemie Pol Star 1:10 on the seats and steering wheel, Auto Finesse Verso 1:10 on the plastics and dash, dressed with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Impressed with Pol Star, keeps the matte finish of the leather and brought up the Alcantara perfectly. £8 for 1l and it's usable up to 1:20.

The MK1 Focus got a similar treatment during the week. Holding up well for a 22 year old car.

Yeah, I do use Ultra Glaco on the mirrors, but that stuff is just easier and quicker, and as @Janesy B said, more potent. It looks like it works brilliantly!

good idea putting it on mirrors will have to try that with the repel coating stuff I have - (glass) headlights too.
guy in the video obviously never dismantled/smashed a mirror, if you spray water into BMW ones you'd get water in its mechanics and the two motors

never use it on the windscreen now, often a bit smeary as the water drives off the coated glass, keeping it clean and making sure blades are good is fine.

Last time I did a big product haul it was back in 2016. So I thought I'd update a few products this month.

Old stuff... + BSD

I still use RainX as I have a few bottles of it. Works well for me.

The new Gtechniq wash mitt is fantastic vs old noodle mits. Just feels smoother and I think it holds the suds better.

Looking forward to using Blackhole and the two waxs. Should bring up the deep red paintwork I have a treat hopefully.

Edit... I also have Garage Therapy Decon shampoo on the way for prep and use with the clay mitt. I forgot to add... BH Auto Wheel to the picture. Looking forward to using that too on the barrels..

Jesus I wish my collection was as streamlined as that. I’ve got all kinds of different bottles of different products by different brands. I once had them all layed out side by side and they spanned the width of my garage, with some being multiples of different bottles of a type of product.

Yeah I can see how one would get carried away with a tonne of products. Given I've been out of the game for a while I had a chance to find some proven products.

This is why I'm not buying any products for a bit - I need to either finish, or chuck, several things. If I'm not washing the car enough to use stuff, I definitely don't need a new bottle of something!

Sadly it means most of my kit is a cheap brand I bought a big starter kit of almost 10 years ago :(
